Yoga newbie

I started going to yoga about 6 months ago.
I go to yoga once a week and pilates once a week. I haven't changed eating habits and rarely do any other exercise.

I've found - although I haven't really lost weight (wasn't looking to), I "feel" so much better. I know I can do things now I couldn't do 6 months ago. I know some clothes seem to fit more comfortably on me.
Obviously I'm just a beginner and only go once a week - many (most?) of the people in my class seem to go to perhaps 3 or more a week, and some I presume have been going for some time. They are SO much more flexible than I am. I hope I have even half their flexibility once I'm retired.

I have been to my first yoga class, have been interested for a while after lots of people raving about it, I really enjoyed the class and think I ll go back again.

Just wondering for those who are into yoga what sort of long term benefits to they experience from it?
