Getting dizzy during forward folds - how to make it stop!

I've been doing 30 days of yoga base camp with Adrienne and I'm loving it. But whenever I do a forward fold and then start to come up out of it I get dizzy.

Help me make it stop - I feel like I'm skipping loads of moves because I'm leaving out all the forward fold stuff! 😬

How slowly do you come out of forward fold? come half way slowly, raise you eyes to look at the horizon and then continue up slowly. If it is forward fold as part of a vinyasa routine consider skipping some of them and just going down with bent knees and then legs back. A couple of my clients suffered a bit with dizziness when doing a flow class, the constant movement and up/down was too much.

When at the mid stage put your hands just above knees to help stabilise as you look up.

I would guess I'm moving at pace with the video, doesn't feel too fast or slow. I'll try looking at the horizon - can't think where I'm normally looking!

Do you see dots in your vision when you get up from where you are sitting?

I'm wondering if this can be a sign of something not quite right, like low blood pressure, high uric acid in the blood, etc.

The girls who have trouble with it in my classes both have low blood pressure..do you know whether you do?
Perhaps worth getting checked out if it's something new for you (e.g. One of the girls who struggles with the up/down of a vinyasa sometimes knew that might be the case as she always got dizzy getting up too fast so wasn't a new reaction)

I can never see for a few seconds when I get up - used to always keel over at school getting up from a crossed-leg position in assemblies at school - as I have low blood pressure. The only solution really is to go slower.

I sometimes get dizzy - and I have low blood pressure. I either just take it a bit slower or skip out a vinyasa or two in a class. I also get dizzy / feel sick with some back bends like camel. Some days I'm fine - others not at all.

Me too, low blood pressure. Making sure I'm really well hydrated helps, and sometimes I just need to stop a moment until my head clears.

Positional hypertension/low blood pressure. Drink plenty (500ml an hour) this will help raise it. Breathe out as you come up, pause halfway and breath in then breath out as you straighten up. I have to do that just to stand up from the floor. Used to freak my school friends out by fainting after assembly!

Low blood pressure here too - I just raise myself slowly thereby allowing myself to acclimatise Grin
