Yoga and breast implants?

Please don't judge! I'm a stick figure willowy type and I'd just really like a pair of breasts - and seeing as my genes won't gift me any I've been wondering if a surgeon would. I'm otherwise really happy with my body but I'd so, so like to look in the mirror and see a grown woman rather than an underdeveloped teen ... I guess I'm just not really zen enough to embrace resembling a surf board!

The thing is that I'm also a dedicated yoga practitioner. I do an hour pretty much every day and it's something I really need to deal with a variety of physical and psychological stuff. If I had to choose between my yoga practice and boobs I'd definitely pick yoga.

Does anyone have any experience of getting implants? How has it affected your ability to engage in physical activity? Long term? Short term? Are pectoral stretches a problem? Planks or arm balances? And can you still lie on your belly?

Thanks for any responses!

Hi, I'm also in the same boat except that mine have shrivelled to next to nothing after breast feeding X 2. A friend of mine had hers done five years ago and takes yoga classes daily as well as two hours weight lifting.
I think if you have the money spare then go for it and enjoy Grin

I don't think you need to pick between new boobs and yoga practice. There are a few.. um.. enhanced ladies who frequent my yoga studio and they don't seem to be suffering any adverse effects.

Thanks, both! Any idea how long recovery from surgery took for those 'enhanced' women?

I think I'll just make an appointment and have a chat with the surgeon. Hoping they'll be able to tell me more (and not simply keen on making a sale ...)

Sorry, no idea! I'm too chicken to go under the knife for cosmetic purposes Grin

FWIW, a friend of mine who has had a mastectomy and now undergoes daily radiation therapy also continues with her yoga practice. She said that there is a bit of stiffness but it is not really painful.

I've had a BA and have no problems with Pilates or Yoga - admittedly I clearly don't so as much as you :) If you go for a consult your surgeon should be tell you of the advantages/disadvantages of going under or over the muscle. I had 280cc unders and went from 32aa to 32c - took 2 weeks off work and it then was a further 4 before I was cleared for exercise.

Please though when you choose a surgeon look for a plastic surgeon rather than a cosmetic surgeon. I used an NHS plastic surgeon who also did private work. If you find a surgeon like this they will be much more qualified than some that operate through cosmetic surgery clinics.

Don't go too big is my advice. I have (unaugmented) big tits and they are really annoying in forward folds because they suffocate me. I also can't wear those nice but unsupportive yoga bra tops - or yoga vests with shelf bras.

Also, no judgment from me and I hope no other yogi/ni would judge either. Good luck X

"really annoying in forward folds because they suffocate me"

I am guessing that you are not a big fan of inversions, then Smile

Small norks have an advantage some of the time. They don't ever suffocate me and I love my yoga tanks with shelf bras!

Yeah, I'm not that keen on inversions :-D Shoulderstand is a particular problem.

I have small tit envy!
