Job application deadline was today - Bank Holiday Monday (can that we right?)

Ok so I've just finished and submitted a job application (took a few days). The closing date is today (Bank Holiday Monday), I've never seen job adverts with bank holidays as closing dates... would this be right?
My thinking is that it's unlikely to be seen before tomorrow when the offices (local council) re-open after the long weekend.
So if they don't see it till tomorrow it wouldn't be considered 'late' would it? Hope not, I put soo much effort and time into it!

We often would do a closing date on a Sunday and would do bank hol Monday if it fitted. But if you submitted today and today is the deadline you're not late!

Or was it noon today? Is that what you mean?

I've applied for a job with a deadline of midnight today. Also local government. It goes to a generic inbox. Tomorrow the HR person will send the application form without the equal ops form and criminal record declaration to the recruiting manager. You may be somewhere where you can apply online, but the process is similar.

It won't go by when the person sees it, but the date that it was electronically submitted. The jobsite (which I imagine most councils use) wouldn't let you apply if you were late, the advert would be closed off. Unless its just send an email application but even then you've done it by the date specified so you'll be fine. Good Luck!

Thanks for the replied, deadline was 5pm today.
Just wondering when setting the deadline, whether the recruiters realised today is a BH.

They possibly didn't realise, but regardless they can choose to immediately reject any late arriving applications. Their computer will show the time.

I work for a local council and we don't have today off as a BH.

Doubt it matters. They won't just ignore it if they haven't found someone decent already...

Ds applied to Tesco today and today was the closing date. Makes sense - they can start working on them all tomorrow.

Don't assume it won't be seen. Especially with more homeworking now I sometimes fiddle about with things at weekends etc even though I work Monday to Friday 9-5. It also surprises me the amount of my colleagues I see are online too!
