Hi every one! I have applied for the role of bank hca and was wondering if the work is reliable as I would need about 30 hours a week or whether I would need to have a second job alongside This? Hope I can get a bit more of an insight many thanks!

I'm a full time hca and also on the bank, at my trust, I can book shifts upto the end of March currently when looking on the available duty, some of the wards offer block booking shifts and we also offer allocation on arrival for clinic hcas which is normally 8.30-5pm. Good luck!

I would suggest you ask your bank booking team as they would know how many available shifts they usually have.
I'm a bank hca at a big hospital and there are always lots of shifts but I guess it depends how many permanent and bank staff your trust has vs available shifts.

I’m bank & have been lucky enough to get trained by a department so I am block booked there.

In my trust we get daily texts about shifts & regular emails for shifts currently up to end of January.

You get paid more for weekends & night shifts as well.

Best thing to do is talk to other bank HCA’s during your training shifts.
