4 Weeks Pregnant - Apply for promotion?

I'm 5+4 weeks pregnant and a role is coming up in work in the next couple of weeks. I've been waiting for promotion for 3 years and I don't know what to do.
Part of me thinks we are only 5 weeks in, it a long road and I've been waiting for this for so long I should apply. Plus it would look weird if I didn't.
However the other side of me thinks what an awkward conversation this would be with my new manager.
What would you do?

Of course you should apply.
And when you get the job, and then eventually tell them that you’re pregnant, please don’t apologise for being pregnant.

Apply!

If you're the right person for this job you being pregnant and taking maternity will not matter.

Your still a good number of weeks away from telling work anyway yet. I didnt tell my work until I was 16 weeks.

Good luck and fingers crossed for you

Hi there OP, definitely APPLY!! Pregnancy is a long road and you're entitled to go after this promotion you've waited for and 'see what happens' with the baby. They are NOT entitled to discriminate against you for pregnancy reasons, it's against a bunch of employment laws - so there's no reason not to go for it.

FWIW I applied for a completely new job, new company etc at 8 weeks pregnant. By the time I was hired (multiple interviews!) I was already 12 weeks along. I aced my first few weeks, told them at 16 weeks when I was fairly confident bub was sticking around, and noted that I was in my probabtionary period so they could let me go if they felt I wasn't a good fit... They kept me, and paid me during my mat leave even though I wasn't entitled!

Some bosses are great with pregnant women :) Wish you the best of luck with job and baby!

Absolutely apply for the role. 4 weeks is very very early into a pregnancy so you have no reason or requirement to state that you're pregnant. Go in and give it your best. Then later on when you announce, they will just have to deal with it and get a cover for your maternity. Pregnancy should not affect your job prospects
