Messed up my interview

Just here for a wee rant. Completely messed up my pre recorded interview for a Cs job I really wanted. I did well throughout the whole application process, scored high on the tests, made it through the sift then fell down at interview. I accidebtly ended my recording during my best behaviour answer I had so only told the very start of the scenario and stuttered and muttered through the rest and gave poor very few worded answer to the strengths questions. I am so annoyed at myself!

I once went for an internal promotion with 2 of my managers on the panel. 1st question was tell us about your day.. I couldn't think, I ummed and aahhed.. My manager took me to the pub, pissed himself laughing and said I swear I saw tumble weed! 🤦‍♀️

My husband thought he did really badly during a recent interview. He has examples of previous competences and he gave one example then they asked another question and he realised the answer he just gave was the suitable one and rather than refer back to his answer hevsvrabnlrd around trying to dig up another example. Then said ‘its really frustrating because I’ve already given my example!’. I told him it might not be too bad and he said ‘I was there! It was!’ He got the job though.

these pre recorded ones are hard especially if people haven't done these before, well done you've been so brave to attempt it. best wishes

Did you hear back regarding your interview yet? I did mine on Friday... I'm fairly sure I messed mine up as well! The wait to hear either way feels agonising!

No not heard anything yet but I won't hold my breath. I actually thought it would benefit me with it being pre recorded as I get very nervous in interviews but no this was worse. @sarahuk1 I hope you hear soon and you are successful.

Currently in the same boat. It's so disappointing isn't it? Sending hugs

I recently had an interview and thought I’d cocked it up. Afterwards I ruminated over it and convinced myself I’d sold myself short. I got offered the job!! Fingers crossed for you !

I am appallingly bad in interviews and I have still managed to get job offers. I had what I thought was an absolute stinker during the summer but I still got the offer. You just never know OP. And even if you don't get it, just chalk it down to experience.

I had a virtual interview in August. I answered some of the questions well .... but left loads out in the heat of the moment for a couple of questions that I had prepared well for. I was so angry and disappointed with myself and focused on the negative ...... but .......to my total surprise, I got the job!

I asked for feedback on the questions I felt I hadn't answered well and was told that what I had said scored highly compared to other candidates.

I hope it goes well for you too.

Have you heard anything op. I feel like I have just messed up a zoom interview. It just totally threw me the original person interviewing couldn’t do it as had no audio so someone else stepped in last minute while i was in the meeting they had no camera so it threw me

Didn’t get asked the usual questions that i had prepared for so waffled on not sure I even made sense so annoyed with myself as I know I can do the job. Waiting to hear but not holding my breath got another interview tomorrow for a job i got previously but turned down because the hour are rubbish so fingers crossed I do better

Oh god it’s awful isn’t it. I had one on zoom Monday and I didn’t answer the questions properly and then said something really stupid in the middle of it!!!!!!! Didn’t get the job and demotivated about trying again as the whole
Process takes about 2 weeks of mental drain.

If it’s a job where they are employing a cohort who meet the threshold, you may still have a chance, the interviews where there is only one post and the best interviewee gets it are harder to achieve.

I recently had a couple of interviews online. I am really crap at interviews, and didn’t do well on the first one, but I actually found them less nerve wracking than face to face.

Good luck!!!

Have you heard back yet OP? Fingers crossed for you and everyone else in the same position. I am also currently in that agony of suspense! Didn't feel 1st round formal interview (with 3 partners) went that well, but got invited to 2nd round (with another 3 partners including head of team) - pleased with how that went, and got invited to less formal 'chat' with some of the team members (that would apparently usually be over a drink but all of these obviously have just been over zoom). They were nice but I felt it was slightly stilted, they seemed a bit focused on other things as really busy and didn't feel I hugely got chance to sell myself in that / didn't get chance to ask all my questions. That was last Wednesday evening and I haven't heard further yet, I'm so jittery and on edge waiting! (I really want this job but also need it as I'm being made redundant, and it's obviously a tough market at the moment).

Still nothing unfortunately. I'm in the fortunate position where I have a job at the moment. I really feel for those who have lost their jobs as I cant imagine how difficult it must be to find something else at the moment with so much competition. Good luck to all those still waiting 🤞
