How long did it take your last job to tell you the outcome of your interview?

I had an interview on Tuesday. They said they had more interviews on Wednesday but "should" be able to get back to me by the end of that day.

I'm now chomping at the bit so will call to chase up tomorrow. But just wondering what current response times are?

My interview was for a NHS (CSU) bank position, so I was hopeful I'd be successful but now I'm not so sure.

I would prepare yourself for the fact they are still trying to get hold of their first choice or waiting for them to decide.

@SunbathingDragon I would have thought this if it was just one position, but surely as it's a bank role, there are multiple positions. That's what's bothering me.

Not always although it will depend upon the place.

Hopefully you will hear either way soon and fingers crossed it’s good news.

I had an interview on a Monday afternoon and they said they’d call later that day or the next day (Tuesday). They didn’t call until 5pm on the Wednesday, which they apologised profusely for but it was because they had interviewed quite a few people and couldn’t make a decision so it could be that!

I had thought I wasn’t successful but turns out they were taking ages to decide! Fingers crossed and good luck 😊

@SunbathingDragon Oh really. I'm thinking it's not looking too good for me then.

@SnowfallSnowball Congratulations! I'd like if that's the case for me but hope is dwindling.

NHS usually take ages to get back to you but they do give feedback whether you're successful or not. Still early days for you so. I wouldn't take it as a bad sign. Good luck!

Two NHS jobs I knew by the end of that day. Third NHS job I knew by the next day. They are normally very efficient in that regard. Getting through the HR stuff is a different story....

Any news, OP?

@SunbathingDragon I got the job!

I'd emailed the hiring manager this morning thanking him for taking the time to interview me (aka prompting him for an outcome). I got an email a few hours later from the staffing team saying that my interview had been successful and offering me a position. The email also said that they are still doing interviews next week and can't "officially start the process" until they are complete.

I was hesitant about emailing this morning as I didn't want to appear impatient, but I couldn't help myself. I'm glad I did though as it seemed to have prompted a response.

I understand from friends' and families' experiences that it could take a long while to actually start the job but I'm just glad to have secured something for the long run.

Thanks for your responses all.
