Is this entirely out of reach?? Advice please.

So I keep my toe on indeed and other employment sites just to keep an eye on what is out there.

My current job is fine, decent salary. Although I'm beginning to feel like I'm way too stressed for what I earn and want to progress. In my field it's almost impossible without a degree so I started studying this year.

So, I came across a job that literally is ME all over. It wants certain experience that pulls my last two jobs together expertly and I fully believe that I'm capable of doing the job even though it's a jump outside of my comfort zone. I've got experience in what they are asking spanning around ten years.

There are no qualification requirements for the job that are listed on the Job Spec.

My questions is - it's offering double my current salary. Exactly double. Surely you can't leap from one job to another and then double your salary?? Is that too much of a jump? Am I too excited about the role that I've just missed something quite pivotal?

Has anyone ever applied for a job where the salary is twice your current earnings and got it? Or am I just setting myself up for disappointment??

I'm going to apply anyway, but I don't want to make myself look stupid! IF I'm successful (big big big IF) we are currently TTC so that will have to go on pause.

Any advice and experience please! I have to write a cover letter with my CV so how can I make that stand out from everyone else.

Quite honestly this salary just seems completely unobtainable to me unless I finished my degree and then got promoted every year for ten years! I simply don't understand how I could be suitable for a job paying that much.
I'm going to throw caution to the wind and write my cover letter today.

You've got nothing to lose! Go for it, If you get the job, amazing.
If you don't, but where interviewed you've got experience of an interview at that level for next time and can ask for feedback?
If you don't get past applications, you've not lost anything.

I’m in a similar position and my worry is if I go for it, and don’t pass My probation as in my head double the salary is asking for possible stuff I’m not ready for than I could end up without a job and should have just stayed where I am. But then I also know that birthing will change unless I got for something else!
If you don’t mind me asking what job role is this? Happy to wait after the closing date (I’m not wanting to apply) I just like to know what jobs people can go for that are in a similar position?

I’m in the same position. I hadn’t even been looking and yesterday a friend forwarded a job which lists basically my top skills - and double my last salary.

I told her it was “pie in the sky” salary and just the number gave me imposter syndrome.

She is C-suite and she said:

1. only the people who don’t need to, feel it
   
2. you are fabulous - don’t forget that
   
   It’s been years since I wrote a CV (6!), so I’ve been making use of zety who also so cover letter templates.

It's a safeguarding type role - think preventing extremism/CSE/violent crime.

This is exactly my thought process what if I get it and then absolutely drown because double the salary means double the work and I've just given up a secure job with cracking pension!

Double the salary doesn't mean double the work or double the difficulty. I've done it and then got another big raise less than two years later. Don't rule yourself out before you've even tried!
