Is 40 too late to start a career?

As the title says really. I’ve finally found a job that I really love and would love to progress. I’ve recently had a baby (surprise as have older teenagers too) but have really good childcare and would love to expand my current role even though I’m only part time. I’m currently browsing online courses and wondering if I’m too old or have too much responsibility at home to think I can make a career for myself? Am I kidding myself? Or have other people made a go of it career wise at 40 plus??

Any input would be amazing

At 40 you still have 28 years to work before retirement. Go for it!

What @Polkadotdelight said! You've got years of work ahead of you, so it might as well be doing something you love! My dsis has just started an access course to midwifery at 51. She couldn't be happier.

I'm now making a go of it and I turn 40 this year. I'm studying for AAT Level 3 and had an interview for a Finance Assistant position this morning. Won't know if I'm successful for a couple of days, but even if I don't get the job it was great interview experience.
Go for it!

At the age of 43 as a single parent of two children I pursued a career in financial services. I was employed by a well known high street bank and earned a great salary plus a company car. Great pension too.
The only thing that can stop you is your own fear.
Live your life to the full
Chase your dreams
Don't let them be buried with you in later life

No you're not!! I'm 43 and have changed career path completely over the past 5 years. I have 3 children and work full time but have been studying for the last 2 years and finally completed all my exams last week. It's given me a whole new lease of life! Go for it!!
