Work

Accepted At Cloudworkers, Now What?

Hi

I looked on a mumsnet post about how to make do much cash per week or month or something, and made some applications to Appen, ModSquad, Crisp and on a whim, to Cloudworkers.

If you haven't previously read said threads, Cloudworkers is basically a paid-by-sent-text job where you live chat with mostly guys, about anything but purportedly it's flirty, sexual, etc.

Not sure if it's relevant but my reasons for applying to the above companies are that I'm physics disabled with mental health problems and am desperate for work. Yes, I've trued through the jobcentre and through charities and I'm still stuck here doing nothing with my life while my partner brings in a wage which means we only just don't qualify for benefits. Boo hoo and so on.

We chatted and he's happy for me to give this a try.

I've accepted the offer from them but that was late last night and I've not heard anything back.

They're meant to get in touch with a manual and some forms to complete etc.

I've been out of work for a long time, is this normal? Can anyone who knows of or has worked for Cloudworker tell me more about it?

I'm ecstatic to be able to tell people I have a job.

Ugh, this is why I never bother trying to talk to anyone or ask for help 😣

No idea what it is or how it all works. Just make sure you check if it affects your disability benefits in any way.

Other than that, good luck, but I doubt you'll be shouting from the rooftops that your new job is sexting.

Thanks for replying.

We are just the wrong side of the income threshold to qualify for any benefits. We bought our own place a year ago and I'm currently weighing up the pros and cons of the situation - pros: no being changed to UC, am on property ladder, less pressure from the DWP in general. Cons: no tax credits, no ESA, what would have been 'spare' money before is now thrown into house and contents insurance and we are in a flat so we have a leasehold to contribute to.

Doesn't bother me that it's 'sexting', none of it is for my pleasure, I don't and won't know any of the people I'll be talking to and they won't be able to identify me. I will, however, be able to put some pennies into the pot and be able to put something on my CV.

I'm not sure that you should put sexting on your CV. Just earn the money.

FYI. If your messages on CloudWorker are "FFS just cum already" you're probably not on the right path.

You waited a whole 64 minutes for someone who specifically works or knows someone who works at one company (and not a very large one) before having a strop

Didn't come here for a bunfight, cheers. What gives you the impression that all I'd be capable of writing is "FFS just cum already" Confused

Caaarrrl we've been trying to come up (npi) with a professional sounding way to briefly describe the job. For example, no one is a cleaner anymore, they're a hygiene engineer (or something), I wonder whether it would be crass to describe professional sexting as some kind of digitally interfaced customer care... If you get my drift...

Though to be fair, my CV looks appalling and would probably be livened up by calling a spade a sexter on it Grin

I need a bit of lighthearted over this, this is where my level of desperation gets a person. And I don't have anyone else to talk to about it.

Yes I get your drift but I don't know how you would write it on CV or discuss it at interview for future jobs? Might as well make some money at it if you don't mind that sort of thing though. Good luck

Remote support operative?
Chat Moderator?
Put on CV sensitive or protected information so you can't discuss it!
From what I've heard the pay isn't all that though, I've sent back my forms but haven''t had a manual through yet

I’m in exactly the same situation as you. (Disabled but no benefits and no job.) And looked into this.

Ultimately it just wasn’t something I could do and also I read that the money was just so terribly low for the time you put in, so I didn’t go for it.

Having said that, low money is still some money at the end of the day! So if it works for you then that’s great and good luck to you!

@SpinneyHill that's a good idea re the sensitive info, though remote support operative sounds kosher. How long ago did you submit your forms?

@LittleLongDog

I think I want truly know my feelings on it until I give it a try. But I do very much see it as pennies I wouldn't otherwise have, and something to occupy my time with which at least pays pennies rather than me stuck inside alone all day, quite literally wishing to be struck down.

I need the confidence to help me work up to something else. I'm hoping I have some sort of prospect left.

Off to bed. Thanks to those who helped, it's definitely an odd one but since back when I was just a lurker here I've read so much worse, I figured it was OK to put it here.

I've applied and you appear to have to apply for CLOUDWORKERS AG as they are an IT company based in switzerland. They are also on LINKEDIN :)
The sexting company is called CLOUDWORKERS NL and obviously I would stay away from them.

Also, you need to set up a PayPal account so that you can send them an invoice, which is better.
