Get back to teaching

hi all,
I need an advice really and a bit of information before I can make a decision. I have been thinking about changing my career from IT into teaching (Primary). I keep getting this advertisments about the course and then placement (if you have a degree). Has anyone done that? What worries me, a girl from my work went for it, at the end of the course she was offered a place in the schoool in different town, quit far actually. But she doesn't have children no mortgage. Would somebody who has experience with the whole process clarify it for me? Thank you.
