Offering an employment contract to a freelancer

I have a small business and I'm thinking about offering an employment contract to a home-based freelancer that I've been working with for a few months. She's proven to be a great fit for my business, and I think it would offer both parties further commitment.

Her hours are PT and variable, but she earns <£10k pa. (So no obligations re: pension). She would be on the same hourly rate.

But, I'm a bit wary of the extra hassle factor of additional obligations e.g. annual leave, maternity pay, sick pay, etc. My business is quite stable right now, but obviously anything can happen.

Has anyone made a similar decision before? What did you decide and why?
