Independent travel agent?

I've seen an advert recruiting for independent travel agents. Training included, working from home so all good but I'm wondering what the catch is. Anyone have experience of this? Is the base pay just really low or do you have to spend money upfront?

Avoid at all costs.

It's an MLM.

Sorry, my reply was a bit blunt but if you put the name of the company together with "scam" or "MLM" into Google you'll get the picture.

(was it Inteletravel, that seems to be the main one)

If it's travel Counsellors they are legitimate- I use them.

There are some legit ones, my friend is self employed-as in properly self employed, not an MLM, amd does well out of it, although I’d ask a lot of questions about it to make sure it isn’t MLM

It doesn't actually say which company. Was a post a mum put on a Facebook group. You have to message her for details.

Good to know there are some legitimate ones as well. @tastylancs how does it work for you?

What are these "Travel Counsellors" (I had some guy all over local SM as well, he's so annoying I ended up blocking him)? Freelance travel agents? What Training or experience do they have? Do they have access to the live flight databases and stuff?

Why are they any better than DIY or one of the known names with all the ABTA/ATOL etc?

I just can't see their niche.

MLM red flag right there. Won't name names, wants to get it onto PM asap....

Hmmm it does sound dodgy if it's a Facebook post with no company name.

I had a travel Counsellor recommended to me by a friend about 10 years ago and I've used her regularly ever since. She's booked disney, skiing, Caribbean etc for me. Same price as I get if I book directly but I have more help and cover if I book through her, and it's just easier and quicker.

Definitely @BuzzShitbagBobbly. No way will I PM her now.
@tastylancs Ah cool thought you meant you were one. That sounds like a good person to know if you're getting decent deals!
