Help! Summer office wear

Hi I posted this on style and beauty but no replies yet. Probably a bit dull.Grin

My dd is doing a few weeks as an intern this summer. It's office based but reasonably casual.

What's appropriate to wear? Particularly on her legs ie tights? If so what colour/type or are bare legs ok?

Tia

Too hot for tights! What were other women wearing when she went for interview? Any kind of dress probably ok, or a top and trousers. When I start somewhere new, I wear something quite plain for the first week or so until I suss out what's acceptable. Good luck to your DD on her internship :-)

I would say plain black or navy dress and some simple pumps and a pair of navy trousers and a blouse or simple shirt

Thank you for replying.

She didn't go to an interview. She went to a meeting with the company that facilitate the internship and the other people were all men!

So are bare legs fine? Sorry I've not worked in an office for years!

Yes, absolutely fine for bare legs, as long as dress is knee-length-ish and not too short. Unless she wants to go for the Kate Middleton tan tights look! M&S have a plain navy shift dress in linen mix for £25 I just bought that will be getting a lot of wear as our office is an oven.

I wear sandals, jeans and a strappy top normally in summer.

Just get her through the first couple if days and she can see what everyone else wears

@lazypuppy Jeans? Bad advice. OP don't send your daughter into an office with jeans.

Unless she's been told it's casual dress jeans will look very unprofessional.

Smart trousers, a top and pumps or little heel is fine.

My office is like an oven at the moment. Most of the women wear light blouses with a smart skirt or loose wide leg trousers. Either that or smart dresses in light fabrics. Some wear sandals, although it wouldn't be my preference. Most wear ballet flats or low heels. Nothing with spaghetti straps and no mini skirts. No bared midriff. But also no need to stick to black and navy, my manager was wearing a really lovely dusty pink knee length dress on Friday.

@Russell19 it wasn't advice. I said what i and thousands others wear in my office and said get her through the first few days and see what everyone else is wearing.

And by jeans i mean grey/black so not a lot different to trousers

No strappy tops, no mid rifts no matter how ripped! No short skirts or big splits or boobs on show.

Personally if it's an I/v I'd wear tights otherwise bare legs once your in.

Dresses are massive at the moment as you can sling a cardigan or jacket over
