RBS wanting to leech of female run businesses

Is it me, or is the Government and Banking sector totally corrupt an inept when it comes to helping women into work who want to set up businesses?

Whilst looking for some business support, I came across this RBS backed Rose Review which may or may not inform government policy.

To me it’s a lot of nonsense, probably designed to allow RBS to pocket wads of Government and Private cash whilst ignoring real women.

Surely it would be better to have free child care and higher levels of child benefit (£100 per week per child under 5) for all that need it, and perhaps allow a lower tax rate for a few years for women returning to work?

Instead, Alison Rose has produced a useless document full of waffle that looks simply set to enrich the banks.

It’s not just women with children who earn less in the UK and Europe. Even childless women earn less in comparison to men (younger women especially) and so review really needs to understand the full picture.

Conversely women tend to be more successful (in business and industry) in countries without a government backed maternity leave (and where there isn’t a culture against women at work), as presumably women have no choice but to work. These places (Hong Kong, India, USA) often have equally expensive childcare options to the UK when you compare like for like. Whereas despite having cheaper childcare there are fewer women in boards across Europe as a whole.

Agree Teddybear45. The measures I described are less visible to employers and more universal as the are straight benefits. It keeps Government out of the hair of entrepreneurs and doesn’t force them into the hands of the banks for no reason. The Government should just shelve this document and start again.
