Need website for local company

I need a website for a dog walking business. I'd like to use a professional as I think I'll get a better result, and they understand SEO much better than I can.

I thought I had found someone but she has begun building the site and I don't feel she has asked me enough questions so has made decisions on colour and branding without my input. I've queried this to be told that she's the expert, she can change things but it will slow the process down- I'd prefer to agree stuff upfront so less changes are needed. The whole thing is beginning to feel a bit one sided....

So I'm after a recommendation please. Budget about £800 for both build and SEO.

Many thanks

Hi Peoplepleaser1,

So sorry this has happened to you :( I had the same issue with a developer last year and just kept badgering him until he felt compelled to take my suggestions into consideration. However professional she might be, at the end of the day it is your website and you need to be happy with the whole process. Have you stopped working with the developer? If not, maybe you can try to have a discussion with her and explain that you are not happy with how things are progressing and send her examples of websites you really like, send her some pictures etc. Sometimes it helps if a customer takes the lead.

If you are not working with her anymore, then allow me to introduce myself..

I am a self-taught website designer and content creator. I also know a lot about marketing and SEO, so can definitely help you with that. I am not after your money, but I would love your testimonial. The reason for this is that I am starting a web design and marketing agency and need testimonials for my portfolio.

As long as you pay the web hosting fees and any other necessary costs associated with the website I will create the site and add SEO rich content for free. I'll also help you market your website on Google, Facebook, Pinterest etc, so you can use the £800 to generate some customers.

Let me know what you think, would love to connect

Hi there,

I wanted to offer a reccommendation as I have a small outdoor clothing business and recently had a website built for it, I too had a few designers I wasn’t happy with before I found one I was. My DH had actually tried to give building a wordpress site for me a go but it was proving beyond his technical skills so we decided to hire a designer.

We used a company called Honeypot Websites, they offered a really competitive price and free hosting for a year. It came to less than half of the quote the designer I was originally going to use and they had it built and launched within a week!

They sent a questionnaire over with all the questions on branding and content etc so they had all the info they needed for the build straight away, and they Skype called with us whenever we wanted. I want to recommend them since I’m so happy with the site they did me. Their website is honeypotwebsites.com. If you have a look on their testimonials page you’ll find the website they designed for me. We are really happy with it, and have had good feedback from customers.

It’s been less than a month but I’ve seen increased sales too which I wasn’t expecting this quickly since we didn’t include any marketing or ppc ads in my small budget (it was a lot smaller than your budget.). Hope this helps!
