Can someone from HR come and talk to me?

Hi there.

I'm thinking about doing the MBTI Step 1 Foundation Programme with a view to being self employed and delivering the course as a Consultant?

Can anyone tell me whether they think this is a good idea? Is this something organisations want or need? Do you have any suggestions?

It's quite expensive so I want to find out whether I'll get a return on my investment. Thanks in advance.

What's your background/what other experience/qualifications do you have?

I'm not sure Myers-Briggs is widely used anymore, but with any sort of personality-type sort of thing we'd use it as part of a wider programme so it would depend what else you were able to offer.

Hi,
MBTI is expensive and in my experience is a little outdated now. I used MBTI years ago when I was doing team work within organisations I worked in and it's too complex to live in the organisation after the consultant has gone. ENTJ ENFP etc. is really meaningless to people unless it's part of a large scale team transformation programme.

Have a look at DISC. This is a behavioural tool that measures how people give and receive information. It's good for communication and adapting style to increase impact and influence. Again, this has it's place and I'd only recommend it as a communication tool.

I use i3, a profiling tool. This is a strengths based tool that increases self-awareness. You can use it for team dynamics, personal coaching, and recruitment and selection. It lives in the organisation and people love it because they understand it. It also looks at where people are most productive. Great if your background is in HR, Coaching, Personal or Business Development. //www.i3profiling.com

Overall, it depends on your background and how you're going to use it, for whichever tool you choose. I'd carve out your niche or area of expertise then get the tool that will fit well with your service.

It's done in house where I work so no need to buy in. Larger organisation s who benefit the most, train existing HR staff to do it as its only one small part of people management

Very out dated now. Definitely look at something more current.

Most large organisations have it in house as a PP said. It's still used but not very widely.
