Are there any medical secretaries who work from home on here?

I would like to find out if this is something I could do. I’m planning to do a Medical Secretary course in the New Year but unlikely to return into the workplace for another 12 months or so.
My background in in MH nursing (over 15 years) but have decided not to return to nursing.
Partner is currently doing PhD and I want him to focus on completing that. Our LO will be 7 months and was just thinking how practical would working from home as a Med Sec be.
I’ve been reading other threads on here and hoped to chat to someone whose already in this position.

Any advice greatly appreciated,

Sorry, i dont see how that would work at all
Lots of my secs work reqiires her to be on irl. Most of the typing is outsourced overseas then comes back to get put in format so definitely is not the bulk of her work.

I was a med Secretary. I can't see how it would work from home. One thing that jumps to mind would be the sensitive nature of some of the work and that it would be done off site.

When a SAHM many years ago I would type up student's thesis on a ding ding typewriter. But that was before computers were widely available. They can now easily do their own.

I used to work as a medical secretary until it was outsourced abroad. I would be interested in doing it from home too. Following.

I am too a medical secretary. I think one of the secretaries works from home but it is just typing so paid on a lower band for that reason. I personally don't see how it could work doing it from home as you would only be able to type. Have you looked at DICT8 where you pick typing up at home (I did it for a bit but found it a right faff)

I know someone who has a company that both trains and then outsources work. It is actually medical secretary, it is more typing up dictated notes.

Most of their 'employees', I think they are technically self employed are in Australia, not because it is cheaper but because of the time difference. GP's send a file of dictation when they close, which can be 7-8 pm and expect it to be typed by the time they come in at 8 or 9 am.

This fits really well with the time in Oz. Work arrives before you wake up and can be done while the kids are at school.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for all your replies. Sorry Blush I was up with my LO and couldn’t get back to sleep in the early hours (03.54) and typed this as it was on my mind.
Sorry I should have been clearer, I have seen quite a few job adverts for home based medical audio typists and have looked into DICT8 and have heard it can be a faff.
I understand you really cannot do a medical sec role from home, I suppose I was thinking along the lines on typing up letters/reports etc.

I suppose I’m wondering if you can get regular work and make a decent income?

Thank you 😊
