I started a new business when my daughter was 3 days old and for a number of reasons have been building the unit mostly on my own.

The point of this thread is 2 fold.

  1. are there 3 mothers who would consider helping me finish it in time for our launch on 15 September (9 months later than planed) in exchange for using the space to launch their own business.

  2. are there mothers who would be interested in a level 2 qualification and training in wine and spirits and the possibility of freelance tastings.

For the first part I need some help organising, cleaning, painting and possibly helping gather information for our website.

My manager is away for the next two weeks leading to the launch, I have two children, nursery starts on 20th September and my husband works full time. I am also sick of being judged for working and raising a family. Builders make a horrible mess, leaving things like open bottles of pure alcohol making it difficult to know what to expect when I show up with a boyisterous 3 year old and inquisitive 10 month old.

With regards to point 2. We will be hosting events which are preplanned and mostly in the evenings. I will be bringing my children during the day during holidays and intend to make it child friendly.

The wheels were rolling and I am sat here on my own while my husband looks after the children, feeling a little low and wishing there were some strong women with me to help and I help them.

The unit is in London Bridge and focuses on English wine, british spirits wholesale and events.

You sound as if you have a lot on your plate.

First things first: put back your launch if your building isn't ready yet.
Give yourself another month or so to get everything tip top.

Perhaps make it the 15th October, rather than 15th September?

I also don't think it is a good idea to take your children there during the construction or finishing phase. It doesn't sound safe for them and builders working on a commercial property would be likely to leave things lying around as they don't expect children to be there. Not great, but I don't think you can realistically expect them to leave it child-safe.

I am not into wine or looking for a space myself, but I am sure there might be other freelancers who are looking for a space! I do low-cost freelance proofreading and copywriting, if that is of any interest? PM me if so.

Post a link to this thread on the 'Freelancers and self-employed' topic as there will be experienced people there to offer some advice.
