How much to have a website built?

Any idea how much it would cost to have quite a basic website built?

It varies a lot and depends on what you mean by basic but a few hundred pounds I suppose.

For a basic 'brochure style' site, possibly with a contact form but no login/out functions or ecommerce etc, you'd be looking at around £250.

It's also worth considering if you have content for your website- if you need the pictures/content written etc then that will cost you as well.

But I'd agree £250 for a no-frills basic website.

I charge £2000-£2500 for basic websites. Have done a lot but stopped recently. It's very time consuming.

I charge around £1,500 for something simple, and that includes images and copy.

Mine was about £200 two years ago. It has 8 pages. I supplied all text and images. Costs about £20 per year to host it.

I did a basic one using Squarespace . It came with templates and I just typed in the boxes and uploaded photos. For a basic one that's all you need and it looks clean professional and modern , imo

My only cost the hosting price as domain came free and I built it myself.

I paid £300 a few months ago for a detailed website that I can change when I want, with my own pictures & good back up support.
Has lots of features including a gallery, contact page, etc.
I pay £20.00 a month for the hosting service.
I was quoted prices up to 2k, but couldn't see any difference between the 2k companies & the one I paid £300 too.
In fact the one I am with has been amazingly & helpful.

I made my own using Wordpress pro and Bluehost. There are some hosting fees but I'm jolly proud of it!

I built mine using godaddy cost 80 and it was easy. However I only wanted one as a web presence if i had wanted bells and whistles I would have gone to a developer.
I'm quite pleased with it :)

Have you looked at Godaddy? They're quite cheap and have templates you can use. x

I built mine for a coaching business on GoDaddy. I chose them as they have a 24 hour uk landline number. They're really helpful and talk you through any issues.

Its not glamorous but as a web presence its fine. Its really just a brochure of what I do etc and how to book / charges.

As PP said if I'd needed a more technical website such as for a shop or something then go I'd have gone to someone local and recommended.

I created my own basic website and it only cost me the hosting and domain fees, so around £20 a year.

It is very basic though, but it says what I do and has links on it to my facebook page and to software that I recommend. It has a "contact us" page. I submit it to google on a regular basis to keep it high up on the search pages.

I've created my own using Jimdo templates and hosting. I'm really pleased with it - quick, intuitive and looks good. I pay £60 pa plus hosting.

I paid about £400, including start up pics, 1st year hosting, domain names and a quick logo. 8 pages, a blog, Contact page, 2 emails (more available as and when). I wrote the copy and got a training session on how to add/delete copy, pictures and anything else I wanted.

I also got a quick social media session thrown in for free - having been a teacher for years I wasn't aware of all the things I could / couldn't do.

I could have built it myself but I was busy designing my paperwork and searching for clients, so it seemed money well spent. Many clients have commented that it was part of their decision to use me over other, local providers.

For a basic website you can make one for free with WIX. It has their name across the bottom but you can pay a small fee to have this removed. You can have photo galleries and as many pages as you want and the tool for editing it is very easy to use. You then buy a domain name and point it at your Wix site, I built my website in an afternoon and it was live the next day.
