I need to send out a press release.

Do journalists prefer to received them as an attachment or in the text?

Is Mailchimp a good idea or does it look Spammy?

In the text. They can read on their mobile without downloading. Get the whole thing in the first para and use the rest to explain it. Check out Jan Murray - she's a Journo and has lots of free content as well as her paid for classes.

No mailchimp. No mass sending. You need a name and make sure you can refer to something they've written that makes you think they might be interested in your piece from it.

Never heard of mailchimp. If you want a hand let me know, I used to work in a newsroom. Agree just regular text. Clear contact details, who is available for additional comment useful.

I receive literally hundreds of press releases a day- I only read the first line and never if it looks like a press release. I'm most likely to pay attention to one that looks like it might be a reader letter that I would have to respond to. Also as much as possible find out the name of the person it's going to

Also make sure it is something the publication might be interested in or you are wasting your time. For example today I received: Medical Expert says hip replacement are allowing patients more mobility despite recent research.

We are a specialist lifestyle/past time magazine

Cloeycat, that's hilarious. I did some PR for a coffee shop and they couldn't understand why they weren't on the Today programme! FFS
