I don't know why you would want to take this course. Do the Google Digital Garage course. That's a great starting place. Then, go through the course again and learn more detail and more broadly about each of the topics covered within it. Then offer yourself to a local business to assist their social and digital media for free, for three months, being totally honest that you are building your portfolio.

How do I have the right to say this? Because I built a social media and digital agency from scratch, after a 15 year career in marketing. It was supposed to be a side gig whilst parenting. It grew so quickly that Husband became a stay at home Dad and I had seven people in the team. I just jacked it all in, in March, to buy a stationery business - everyone thinks I've lost my marbles! But I'm loving what I'm doing now.

Please go for it, please teach yourself, please consider something like the Institute of Marketing qualifications. Go for it. Message me if you want more help - always happy to help give other people a leg up, along the way.

Jobrady24, I just checked that out. It looks like you are doing a great thing! I was often asked to put something together but never got around to it. I'll definitely send people your way - you look organised, detailed and friendly with it! Good luck with it :))

Sorry to hijack thread, but ChristmasLights - how long did it take you to build to a point where you could go full time?

I'm planning a content/social/digital marketing agency but as a side project whilst I work full time... hoping it takes off and it's profitable enough to be full time. I've done a few copywriting bits freelance but nothing integrated. It's both exciting and scary in equal measure Smile
