Making and selling funny clips

My SIL wants to make dummy clips and say they are for dolls and it is up to the buyers if they choose to give them to real babies. She is doing this to get round the safety laws of dummy clips. Would this work? I think not but she is certain it'll be ok.

I have no idea about the legal side, but it seems really... not nice :( just this week I saw an article about a baby who choked on one :(

I'm sure it would be fine until a baby chokes on one of the loose parts.

And she would have to market them as 'toy dummy clips' and have warnings about not using them with real children on the packaging.

She's a morally lacking idiot, in other words.

Well, there'll always be a market where folk are happy to pay a low price for a product which doesn't meet the appropriate safety standards. Where they don't query why a product is so cheap. Bit like the market for knock-off goods.

She'll probably get away with flouting standards if she stays small-scale, doesn't attract much attention and is happy to restrict her market to those who don't query if products meet such standards.

There's plenty I'd scrimp on, but something a baby is going to put in / near its mouth isn't on of those things.
If she thinks her product is good, then it should be good enough to not have it masquerade as something else.
