Do you actually need a local accountant. These days, there are a lot of online accounting firms, in fact it's one of the biggest growing accounting markets. With all the new breed of cloud/online book-keeping systems, the days of having to carry a box of paperwork to your local accountant are long gone.
If you do want a local firm so you can go and meet them, then that's fair enough. Best to ask around other local businesses you know to ask them for recommendations. Make appointments with a range of 3/4 firms and talk to them, get quotes, discuss what services you need, etc., and go with the one you feel most comfortable with. Just be wary that the accountancy profession isn't protected - anyone can call themselves an accountant, so for your own protection, make sure you use a firm that is properly qualified & regulated - whilst the word accountant isn't protected, the word "chartered" is - so using a firm of chartered accountants will give you that protection.
