Any advice on setting up as a therapist?

Any thoughts welcome, please!

I'm thinking about setting up on my own as a CBT Therapist and just thinking about what my business should look like. Things I'd love thoughts on in particular would be:

1) How did you/would you find a therapist?
2) What about their ad or business page made you contact them?
3) Why did you choose to go with them (or not?)

Thanks in advance

I used the Internet to find them.
i checked their qualifications too.
Recommendation played a big part too.

Re website, I'm looking at someone who feels genuine, open and with some experience in what I'm looking support with.

Oh and I'm not interested in a long discussion of what sort training they have done/how it's working/complex words etc...

thank you IW.

How could you get a feel for the genuineness/openness do you think?

I'm currently thinking about what blurb I do and don't want on my website and I'm edging towards keeping it simple rather than having an essay on 'Me'.

I agree with no complex words btw, I'm aiming to write as I speak (without the swearing wink )

hiw to get a feel of being genuine? I don't know. I suppose that if I read something that comes from the heart rather than something g that is what everyone else says or what you are 'suppose' to say it makes the difference?

I personally hate it when all the websites from practitioners in a same ateas(like counsellors or acupuncturists or whatever) all say the same thing. Surely, the way they work with people, how the are as person should come out on the site too?

OK, so I need to make my personality come through in the blurb.

Anyone else got thoughts on how they found and chose their therapist?

Hi Cee, do you mind me asking how long it's taken you to qualify and what the challenges have been? I'm considering a change of career smile

Red, is it CBT you're interested in or psychotherapy in general?

I only know about CBT, but I did a masters part time over two years. It can be done in a year but tbh, it's such an enormous amount of work and you have to be getting in so many hours of doing therapy that I have no idea how people do it!

I'm so glad I did it though. I used to be a social worker and this job is about a million times better in every way. I LOVE IT.
