Looking for some advice. My first trimester is almost over and my manager has suggested I go part time after Christmas. What do I do? I'm not sure how I'm going to feel in January (my first 12 weeks have been exhausting and I've had some discomfort) and as it is I don't think I earn enough to qualify for maternity pay anyway. Do I agree and look for alternative benefits or just go back to my normal hours?

Thanks in advance Smile

My first trimester was awful and I took a lot of sick days but my second trimester was a breeze so I would wait and see how you feel.

I worked part time (20 hours) on minimum wage and I earned enough to qualify for maternity pay. If you don't earn enough though then you have to claim it from the government instead so either way you will still get something.

How many hours do you currently work/what are you contracted to and are you single? You could claim tax credits to top your wage up but you have to be 25 and working at least 30 hours a week. To be honest you won't get much help financially until baby is born
