Hi

I am designing a new baby sleeping device where it is a product that is soft and cuddly that can be placed on top of the baby (stomach/chest) when it is sleeping to help it sleep. it will also have a device that has a beat (simulate a mother's heartbeat/breathing movement)

The idea of this is when a baby falls a sleep cuddling in your arms, the transition to the cot/pram the baby wakes up. the device will give the baby the same kind of warm comfort on its stomach, marginal pressure of security and the movement of chest slightly moving up and down (to stimulate the idea of human contact).

Please let me know if you think this is a good idea or not. Many thanks :-)

This does sound good to me. I think it will work with some babies and some not - like any product designed for babies! :)

Weighted blankets are already a thing. Good for SEN children, and generally helps sleep. The heartbeat idea is not one I've heard of before. Makes sense.

Good luck.

I think that sounds great! I'd definitely consider something like that if I was having another baby (if it works!)

How would you prevent the device from moving from torso to obstruct the baby's face/iimpede breathing?

I think highly dangerous, sorry.

I think safety will be the biggest issue. How can you stop it being a SIDS risk?

Instinctively this sounds dangerous. Presumably it would be powered, that would scare me. I wouldn't put a battery powered device with a sleeping baby. I also
Wouldn't want to put anything other than a light blanket over a baby, especially not on their chest. Sorry op, this would not be for me.
