Wordpress web designers

Is there even such a thing? I've set up a wordpress website but it is very rudimentary and looks a bit shit. It looks like someone has done it who knows nothing about web design - and that's true!
What I'd love is for someone to take over and do it for me, still on wordpress. That way, I could update it myself as I became a bit more techy (my understanding of wordpress is that it's user-friendly so this would be my ultimate aim).
Can anyone advise whether this is possible? What sort of price would I be looking at? And how do I find someone good? I'm in Scotland, though I'm thinking there is no need to be restricted to a certain area.

Have you looked at premium themes? They often come with demo content that make it look smart and then you can swap you're own stuff in. Envato have wp designers that'll put the theme on for you too...

I usually charge around 700 to include theme and one year's hosting. This excludes web shops of course - but should give you an idea of what is charged. Am in Scotland btw. :)

Yes. There are. My professional networking group paid £900 for a whole quite complicated site with events calandrs and stuff.

Absolutely. I do it myself, for instance (£700 incl. a fully licensed premium theme) and if you look on People Per Hour you'll find more.

Rule of thumb - if somebody is charging £400 or less, they're probably not going to do a very good job.

I'm late to this but yes, I'm a Wordpress web developer. I create bespoke Wordpress themes and also provide support services to those who already have websites.

There are some excellent premium themes out there but often people find them hard to implement, particularly the really flexible themes where there can be a bewildering range of options. Sometimes I'm hired just to set up a theme that someone's already bought and to show them how to use Wordpress.

We used a company to do our website using wordpress. They did an ok job but we are struggling with updating/changing things. Make sure you choose someone who is contactable. I wish we had.
