Dict8 explosive transcription

Has anybody who works for Dict8 experienced the ear piercing bang that occurs sometimes in the dictation. I can be typing away and suddenly "BANG". It happened three times on one letter I was typing this morning. This has happened many times now and if the dictation is particularly quiet and I have to turn up the volume the bang noise is painful and I have tinnitus for hours after. What is it I wonder?

I've never had this. Have you tried different headphones?

It could possibly be one of two things - I find when the dictation is faint and I have to put the volume up that loud noises can be back ground doors slamming - I get this in one particular urology consultant's dictation, possibly he has a very noisy nurse, or the other thing is people leaving their handsets on the desk and then switching their computers on - this gives a loud musical sort of crash. Sometimes I have left a note for the dictator to be more considerate as this is very harmful on the ears.

bizilizi29 - I know what you mean, I am finding that I have been typing my letters the same layout for around 3 years and then suddenly get the comment that I am doing it wrong. If they have changed their dictation style I think they should mention it in the monthly newsletter and not send a slap on the wrist. Some of the feedback they send makes no sense and it is quite disheartening esp when you struggle with some of their rotten dictation just to earn a few pennies. I am currently looking at other similar organisations just to see what options are out there. I do think they could be more polite in their communications as well, at least one member of staff needs to learn some manners.

Thanks Hall

That makes me feel better, strangely! Mainly because some comments come back and I feel they've put in what it should be but we have to type what the dictator says and to be honest sometimes it doesn't but I've been told not to change. I'll be interested on your research into other companies.

I've just seen Gally123's comment about Dict8 staff:
'at least one member of staff needs to learn some manners'.
I bet we all know who that one is! Absolutely dreadful - no idea how to communicate. I wonder whether the bosses are aware of it.

I agree with Gally123 I have been with Dict8 years and over the last month have noticed the changes being pointed out by Gally123. The quality of dictation is dreadful one minute your told off for adding to the text to get the task to make sense then slapped down if u don't? It would be better if they acknowledged poor dictation alongside the comments, some of which can be quite crushing. I find from the staff point of view they are not consistent, especially the proof readers and this needs addressing. I work alongside a consultant in my second job and am lucky to be able to have the reassurance that I am good at my job as I believe this person (yes I think I know who everyone is writing about) should be spoken to as her behaviour is verging on cruel and she is bringing the reputation of, what I believe to be an excellent company to work alongside, down and after many years I will be looking for an alternative company.
