Looking for next interim assignment - when to start?

I've been covering a permanent vacancy and have just been told they've found someone and will be offering her the job. She's on 30 days notice. They'd like me to do a bit of a handover and think 2-4 weeks for this.
DP thinks I should just start looking now, I think it would be unprofessional to leave too soon and was planning to start looking once she's arrived but obviously update CV and warm up contacts before that.
Any thoughts?

I'd start now. 30 days is only 4 weeks. It could take a while for recruitment consultants to respond and interviews to arranged etc.

I know you want to do right by your current employer but in 30 days + a handover they won't be thinking about you....

I would have thought most new roles could wait a few weeks for you. If it came to it, perhaps you could do pt for the old and new role. I have done that before.

Thanks Margo . A lot of contract roles are 'must be immediately available' though.
I currently do 4 days (3 full and 2 half) and am reluctant to give that up sooner than necessary. I've also been found another job internally once before at this organisation and have said I'd be happy to stay if there was something else.
