Domain names for business email

Also posted in freelancers but this board might be better...

Very basic question about domain names for websites and email addresses...

currently I have a wordpress blog and I have a web-based email address from mail.com but i am thinking of going 'more professional'... who is best to buy my domain name from? And can I get the webaddress to point to my wordpress blog?

And the bigger question, how does the email work. If I buy something like @workaddress.co.uk then how do I actually email? Particularly on the go. I do not use outlook currently because so much of my work is done from my iphone/ipad.

So, do I forward the new email address to my existing mail.com or something like gmail? When I reply then how do i make the replies go from @workaddress.co.uk rather than my exisiting email or the gmail address?

I currently manage enquiries for a client's website and they have a horrible horrible web interface (squirrel mail) for their enquiries web address so I am wary.

Any suggestions? Either answers to my questions or a basic guide to domain names websites and email addresses for small businesses - is there a book?

Thanks.

I bought my domain, hosting (for Wordpress) and email from GoDaddy.

They talk you through the whole thing. What you can also do is link your domain to Google Apps (for about £1.50 a month) and you then use the Gmail interface for your emails when you're on your computer, which I LOVE. You can also hook your email up to your iphone the normal way.

Hi
Your current Wordpress blog host may register domain names and allow you to set up mail accounts as part of your blog account. (do you have an admin panel log-on for your blog host?)
If you Google 'linking email account to my phone' you will find several threads on this subject. The following link shows you in images how to set up your new mail account on your iphone; cshelp.domains.lycos.com/entries/23430681-How-do-I-set-up-Domains-email-on-my-iPhone-
Linking and re-directing accounts should all be explained in your host's Help files. If you get stuck, hire someone to set it up for you, as they can do this in a fraction of the time. (you can't replace your precious time ;-)

I used wix.com, partly because the website design was so straight forward and I decided to my work emails thru them too. You pay for your domain, but its a gmail account.

I also have used 123-reg in the past, but didn't rate them - not user friendly at all.

I've used //www.names.co.uk before and didn't have any problems :)
