This is a support thread for crafters doing squares for SupermansBigRedBottleofSpirits, whose daughter Summer has died. Sympathies and thoughts go out to the family at this desperate time.

The crafting instructions are all in Knotty and Pistey's thread so I won't repeat them here.

This is a lovely butterfly square for crocheters, and this is a cute lace chart for knitters. This is a lovely little butterfly fair-isle design, I love how this has come out in multi-colour yarn on one of the projects.

If anyone needs help please just shout out.

I found this little pattern for butterfly embellishments, which would be lovely for odds and ends left over from squares?

HopAlong, yes please smile

Love the ladybird, Trib.

I found this lion:

It measures 8x8 but is done in worsted weight with a 5.5mm hook so would likely be smaller if done in the woolly hug yarns.

I won't be making it but thought someone else might want to.

Checking in as I'll be crocheting embellishments. I've got a butterfly pattern somewhere I'll post.

That lion is fab! Not sure how you'd fit him in with the colour scheme but with a more appropriate base colour he might get a honourable exception.

Hello Trib! It seems quite a while since we had a call to arms.
Looking forward to doing some flowers and butterflies for this one.

I'm so sad that another woolly hug is needed, thinking of superman and baby summer sad
I want to do some knitted squares (under trib's guidance wink) but I
crocheted a lovely butterfly that I actually used as my angel's wings blush will post the pattern, it is beautiful. P

Hello all! Droitwich and Barbara, good to see you again!

I may have got a bit carried away with yarn for this project - nice to have pinks and purples to work with.

droitwichmummy Wed 27-Nov-13 23:19:45

I am looking forward to knitting some bright colours too. I can use up some odds & ends on this one too

droitwichmummy Wed 27-Nov-13 23:20:36

That was 1 too many too's! Sorry pedantic police...

Feeling super-virtuous because I've done DH's DLA application form as soon as it arrived - any of you who have struggled through this will know it's a genuinely awful experience writing down basically everything the applicant CAN'T do, and it goes on for pages and pages.

So I think I shall reward myself with a square. Or two ...

Allalonenow Thu 28-Nov-13 14:54:30

They are lovely colours trib now I wish I'd ordered some green too.

tribpot Thu 28-Nov-13 15:01:02

Ooh bugger, I was going to take a photo of the green in daylight as it's meant to be lime, rather than grass, green. Now it's 3 o'clock and decidedly dark in the tundra/West Yorkshire.

SuperNappy Fri 29-Nov-13 12:47:21

I'm waiting im patiently for the yarn grin

It means I've got to work on one of my WIPs in the mean time. There are about 8 things I need to finish so this is probably a good thing!

Practicallyperfectnot Fri 29-Nov-13 13:16:48

Trib - hope you found time to reward yourself. Having done DLA forms for DS, Attendance Allowance for my late parents, and now helping friends complete their forms for their ageing parents, I do know how mentally gruelling it can be to write the negativity in the form filling. My first one took me weeks to complete as it is so time consuming but also so overloaded with a rollercoaster of emotions. X

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission Fri 29-Nov-13 17:37:44

trib, big yay for getting the forms done, I'm staring at dd's renewal pack and thinking I may need gin grin

I have my yarn so need to figure out what to do, that'll be more hours wasted on ravelry smile and I can ignore dla forms a little longer

tribpot Fri 29-Nov-13 18:20:05

Ninja - bear in mind I have to do the form, and DH's tax return, completely sober these days. But you should definitely take gin to get through yours.

Practically - for my first one, I was very lucky to have the assistance of the local branch of Carers UK. This was hugely beneficial, I don't know if I would ever have got through the form on my own.

RatherBeOnThePiste Wed 04-Dec-13 06:45:41

Thank you trib thanks

RatherBeOnThePiste Wed 04-Dec-13 06:46:48

Morning all brew smile

We have been thinking of a last posting date. Because we still have lovely crafters joining us, and sadly some awol woolly wool, combined with the upcoming Christmas holiday, we have gone for about four weeks from now. Hopefully this will help everyone.

Last posting for squares for Superman to be Monday 6th January

Obviously before is absolutely lovely, please just PM for posting details when you are ready. Thank you so much

SuperNappy Wed 04-Dec-13 07:54:59

Thanks, Pistey. Have a [coffee] smile

CalamitouslyWrong Thu 05-Dec-13 14:24:06

I've done lion square using a variation of this pattern. It comes out at 6" if you use a 4mm hook and DK yarn. The loop stitch works much better if you use a broom handle (or two drum sticks in my case).

JollySeriousGiant Thu 05-Dec-13 15:20:24

Oh I'm so glad someone did that lion smile
