KnottyAndPistey Thu 19-May-16 19:31:16

We are afraid we bring very sad news. Daffyduck1’s beloved husband died recently, he had been suffering from cancer. Such devastating news, we are so sorry that life has been so cruel. Our love and thoughts are with her, their beautiful children and family. Love and strength to them all X

We have offered to make Daffy a blanket to show our love and support and to offer what comfort we can, and we are delighted to say she has accepted.

So we are asking for help once again sad thanks

We will need crocheters, knitters and donors (of funds or wool) please post on this thread and PM with your offers too.

PMs work again! Have PM asking about wool.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba Fri 20-May-16 13:41:06

Looking through my stash I've found these two browns Sublime shade 0341 and Debbie Bliss shade 23005 . If I used them as the centre of a sunflower (either or both?) with the Drops 24 (also shown in the top row) as petals I think that would look lovely.
What do you think, can I use those brown shades?

Q2: Middle of bottom row is a shade I can't identify, it's a greyish silvery colour I've been sent before, probably Debbie Bliss, is it ok to use, please?
Either side of it are Debbie Bliss 44 (Aqua) and 19 (Duck Egg)

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba Fri 20-May-16 13:44:04

Actually posting the photo would be it is

KnottyAndPistey Fri 20-May-16 13:50:20

Thanks lovely

I'd say go for the lighter brown for your centre, and the silver is fab, could well be DB

Thank you xxx

BlueEyeshadow Fri 20-May-16 13:55:39

I have a pattern for a sunflower square, but not the right wool. Would you be able to send?

Whatsthatbrightlight Fri 20-May-16 13:57:44

Yes please to yarn if that's ok. Will pm you

KnottyAndPistey Fri 20-May-16 13:59:16

Please pm your addresses xxxx

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba Fri 20-May-16 14:43:43

Thanks, will do!

In the meantime I couldn't help myself and made this one to try out the pattern (very easy free pattern from Pinterest, happy to pass it on of anyone wants it)
Looks lovely and will be put to good use elsewhere - will use lighter brown for Daffy

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba Fri 20-May-16 14:44:44

And photo (when will I learn?)

MrsHathaway Fri 20-May-16 19:37:00

Love it, Zing!

Ginxed Fri 20-May-16 20:30:51

Just checking if you saw my pm for this one as well as William's hug? Let me know if you need initials, otherwise there are tons of themes here I can base some squares on xx

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant Fri 20-May-16 21:19:00

Is that knit or crochet?

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba Fri 20-May-16 21:48:29

It's crochet. But I take back the "easy pattern" assessment.
Actually the pattern is easy, but as soon as I started adding the granny square base the petals started curling up and it's just not looking good enough

<immerses self in Pinterest>

AmaDablam Sat 21-May-16 08:37:15

zing the sunflower is lovely, seems a shame not to use it. Could you not make a separate granny square (or any plain crochet) and appliqué it on? I often find that works better with more complex motifs than trying to do it as an integrated square.

KnottyAndPistey Sat 21-May-16 09:58:38

Morning all brew

Just catching up. thanks

KnottyAndPistey Sat 21-May-16 10:06:41

Posted 22 parcels of yarn yesterday, and 5 went straight to crafters from Wool Warehouse, so hoping to hear about wool arrivals soon. Please post on here when it does, our lovely donors of funds need to see their generous donations arriving safely. Huge thanks to them once again. thanks

Apologies, it will be quiet in here from us over this weekend, although will try to pop in. But do keep PMing - will catch up asap, and all still very welcome to join.

Thank you thanks

MrsHathaway Sat 21-May-16 10:41:03

I'm trying to plan this against other projects and I can't see a final posting date. Am I being thick, or has it not been decided?

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba Sat 21-May-16 11:54:40

I don't think final post day has been decided yet, but if you work with a 6 weeks from thread start date that'll be about right. (That's what I do)

Thanks, very kind!

I did alter pattern a few times last night [stubborn] until I made this one. Still a bit "curly" but looks quite sunflower-y so I'm happy with it smile
This one has the lighter brown centre too.
Zinglette already has dibs on the first version to make it into a hairclip, so nothing is wasted!

MrsHathaway Sat 21-May-16 12:49:26

Thanks Zing.

Am going to pm you about something unrelated. <mysterious>

BlueyDragon Sat 21-May-16 18:33:40

I'll do a square. Thinking of Daffy and her family.

KnottyAndPistey Tue 24-May-16 09:16:55

Morning all and a huge thank you xxxx

KnottyAndPistey Tue 24-May-16 09:17:19

Could anyone do a sun for us?

MrsHathaway Tue 24-May-16 09:49:43

I can't manage that in the colours I'll be using but I'm planning George's paw prints.

PolterGoose Tue 24-May-16 11:30:01

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

AmaDablam Tue 24-May-16 11:49:10

The motif I was going to do could be interpreted either as a sun or sunflower x

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba Tue 24-May-16 12:37:07

Can I use Debbie Bliss Sea Green (81) please?
It's a paler shade of the Basil you sent and I'd be using it in 4 identical squares with the Basil - I think that would work well.
(Don't worry if no good, just let me know either way please )

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba Tue 24-May-16 12:38:38

I mean the Mint (54)!! Sorry

ThroughThinkandThing Tue 24-May-16 18:10:11

My donor wool arrived today - thank you very much, will get knitting.

KnottyAndPistey Wed 25-May-16 07:57:18

Good news about wool arriving safely with crafters, thank you everyone. thanks

PenelopeClearwater Wed 25-May-16 08:03:21

KnottyAndPistey Wed 25-May-16 08:09:05

That's beautiful thanks

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant Wed 25-May-16 09:22:13

Wool arrived last night.
Thank you donor!
I did initials for baby William.
Off to design something for daffy now.

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant Wed 25-May-16 11:39:26

Maybe woolly hugs need to give wool warehouse a warning before they ask us for squares!
I would like to think they have sold out of yellow as everybody is making squares for daffy and wino.

Wearegoingtobedlehem Wed 25-May-16 11:41:20

Do you still need donors of funds or wool? ( can't knit or crochet for toffee!)

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba Wed 25-May-16 12:17:09

How much do you need? If you PM me your address I can post some tomorrow morning.
I don't think I'll have time today.

PolterGoose Wed 25-May-16 12:22:22

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

KnottyAndPistey Wed 25-May-16 13:48:32

That yellow is out of stock everywhere!

Have asked for an email when back in, fingers crossed that won't be too long.

RiaOverTheRainbow Wed 25-May-16 13:51:09

Two lovely blues arrived today for Daffy and Wino's blankets, many thanks to the donor!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba Wed 25-May-16 14:38:38

I can do that!

Alternatively may I suggest Debbie Bliss Rialto Banana to be allowed as well? Only a slight difference but still a lovely soft shade.
Wool Warehouse seems to have a sale of the Drops Merino. Maybe that's why it's sold out there?

PolterGoose Wed 25-May-16 14:56:41

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba Wed 25-May-16 16:18:51

Another happy free pattern from Pintreset, glad to share it!

MrsHathaway Wed 25-May-16 17:09:02

Donor yarn safely received here today, thank you.

KnittingPearl Wed 25-May-16 17:48:17

Donor wool received yesterday, started on my squares. Many thanks.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba Thu 26-May-16 09:07:22

Wool is on its way. I wound it into a large ring so it fits through as large letter.

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant Thu 26-May-16 12:18:28

I feel really cheeky asking for more...

But could I have some red please?

I am struggling to make a strawberry, a door with a red 4 or the jigsaw with only green and yellow...

Sorry for seeming greedy sad

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant Thu 26-May-16 22:55:33

Zing. ..

That is brilliant!
Makes my letters for wino seem very simple sad

KnottyAndPistey Fri 27-May-16 16:55:01

Afternoon brew

KnottyAndPistey Fri 27-May-16 16:56:23

Very happy to send you red, will be Monday now, but am on it.

Beautiful rose there Zing

Thanks all thanks

KnittingPearl Fri 27-May-16 19:21:26

Is the attached the right red? It's in my woolly hugs bag of yarn, but I don't know who by/what shade other than bright red.

I would like to do some embellishments with it, and if it isn't the right one may I have a little please?

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant Fri 27-May-16 20:47:56

Monday is fine.
Knitting is cancelled for tonight. I am laying flat on my bed with a hurt back.
Thank you

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant Fri 27-May-16 20:49:14

If anybody has a small amount of blue, I will use it with the promised red, yellow and green I already have to do the jigsaw logo.
