Support thread 2 - new blankets

This is a continuation of our thread supporting MNers creating blanket squares for Woolly Hugs. All are welcome and I'm hoping to post a link soon to a collection of our fave patterns, pics and links to keep them all in one place. In the meantime, this new thread will allow phone-based MNers like RedRosie to return from Special Phone Exile where she goes whenever the thread has too many messages on.

This is a thread of peace where knitters and crocheters, donors and crafters are all equally welcome.

Ah bird I've now read what you've sent me. SKIP rather than slip the first stitch on the left hand needle. I've done that. It's kind of a 'simple' way of doing a cable effect. I think the tardis shawl might have it in. Stand by!

SoupDragon Tue 22-May-12 19:48:15

I don't do quiches...

notpodd Tue 22-May-12 19:48:18

I was given a book today by a friend "200 knitted blocks for blankets, throws and afghans" - so watch out knotty - I'm all over it next time! I'm eyeing up the snowflake lace one...

KnottyLocks Tue 22-May-12 19:51:06

Soupy, youm naughty grin

Go, Podd! I am on tenterhooks.

tribpot Tue 22-May-12 19:53:21

Btw Dave the Donkey has arrived at my house. Love that colour!

He gets about, he was with Knots earlier grin

KnottyLocks Tue 22-May-12 20:06:07

Duplicitous Dave. Must have words.

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 22-May-12 20:27:03

Do. There is not much worse than a duplicitous donkey called Dave.

prettybird Tue 22-May-12 20:36:41

I want some donkey [pout]!!

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 22-May-12 20:40:26

By the way Dave is going, if you wait long enough, he'll be with you Pretty.

Umami Tue 22-May-12 20:53:20

I have no Dave, no quiche, no cats and no squares to make.

<twiddles thumbs>

What's a hooker to do?

<Eyes up Masa bag (thanks Trib, it's very handsome)>

PurplePidjin Tue 22-May-12 20:57:15

is what I got for googling duplicitous save donkey

tribpot Tue 22-May-12 21:09:19

So Dave the Donkey is 'Call Me' Dave the Prime Minister? That's a bit unexpected. When they said he went out riding with Rebekah Brooks I had a very different picture in mind.

KnottyLocks Tue 22-May-12 21:13:12

<feels queasy>

KnottyLocks Tue 22-May-12 21:13:57

Our Dave is not that Dave, oh no.

KnottyLocks Tue 22-May-12 21:15:00

That Dave is no donkey Dave more an ass

RatherBeOnThePiste Tue 22-May-12 21:23:06

I'm not having my Dave likened to that Dave.

Oh No.

KnottyLocks Tue 22-May-12 21:33:30

<defends thread from that Dave, with biggest hook available>

PurplePidjin Tue 22-May-12 21:36:07

<brandished 8mm>

DontCallMeBaby Tue 22-May-12 23:25:43

<wields selection of vintage steel knitting needles, Wolverine style>

notpodd Wed 23-May-12 06:27:45

Knots You were very polite to strikethrough the more of an ass bit, I'd totally have lieft that, or possibly bolded it...

I need something to knit for now my squares are finished, else I will lose my momentum.

tribpot Wed 23-May-12 06:33:40

I think Knotty was maintaining what appeared to be a politically neutral stance, as befits one of our leaders, podd wink

Now, what kind of thing do you fancy doing next? Baby clothes or a baby blanket are popular choices (admittedly if there is a handy baby around to knit for - my friends/colleagues have produced 6 so far this year) or you can prepare for winter (ironic given the weather change) and crack on with some amazing hats and scarves. Or a cushion cover, or another popular bag choice - windmill.

PurplePidjin Wed 23-May-12 06:39:32

Baby stuff is fab, do tiny sizes and get in touch with your local SCBU or a charity like Lisa's Stars smile
