It's beautiful!

makes me feel all unworthy

DD1 picked out a few (I Like That Fishy! I Like That Bu'Fly! OOOH! Piwates!)

I had a very big cry over 'smiley balloon' because it is such a nice thought from the little boy that drew it out.

Thank you Orm for the blanket ones, they look like happy animals.

A very Big thank you to ladyofthemanor for putting it all together, it really works as a whole piece and makes sense.

Am pretty amazed anyone managed to do that whilst pregnant, doing a phd, and being very ill! It looks, feels and smells lovely.

smile sending lots of love to you and your lovely family. X x

the elephants are very lovely, that purple is great...and all the way from Bangkok ! just imagining the heat of the Bangkok afternoon on two squares heading into the post....

Leo could only just say 'El'phant'

EggyAllenPoe Mon 03-Oct-11 21:06:34

and the wonderful stitched butterfly, smile sad

He did love butterflies. DD1 was scared of them for some reason...but she liked that one.

feeling very tired even though went to bed at half nine in a drunken stupor...

we seem to be running out of the energy that got us through the last six months. Dh is employed (hooray) I still am too things should be looking up. oddly not...but thanks for your thoughts. I know this is up and down..and I just have to accept this down and get through it. DH seems to be having his own troubles but was very touched by your cards.

The cherry tree has made it this far, hasn't even shed its leaves yet for autumn...DD is very definite that we have to talk to the tree and tell it our day. We read a story there today. DD2 looks like a female version of her is uncanny sometimes.

Eggy, my lovely, I'm so pleased the quilt is finally with you.
It really is the most gorgeous thing. You can see the love and care that's gone into it.

Sending you love and a very big hug to help you through.

EggyAllenPoe Tue 04-Oct-11 21:27:13

Thank yousmile

poor long suffering DH had a big blub looking at it with me (particularly the beautiful butterfly) and says a big hairy thank you

<sends Eggy re-energising vibes>

TheBossofMe Wed 05-Oct-11 12:22:08

Oh Eggy, I'm so pleased you like the elephants and your quilt. Am still thinking of you and your family, sending you all good wishes from what right now is a bit of a thundery but still warm Bangkok.

Blatherskite Wed 05-Oct-11 14:09:40

Glad you like it Eggy

EggyAllenPoe Wed 05-Oct-11 22:03:22

its bloody lovely. now i just need my lounge in one piece and it can come out of hiding. (lounge has gone from 'value blue' to 'white' to 'chalk burst ' (which didn't look right) to 'first frost'. A lady is entitled to change her mind, especially if she is doing the painting herself. No break from it though- the carpet is up and the radiators are off the walls - we are going to freeze until its done!)

i think it may end up as DDs blanket though, as she could use a thin quilt in summer.

meeting an elephant in Bangkok was a lovely experience...and the symbolism is good. Elephants don't forget

TheBossofMe Thu 06-Oct-11 13:58:07

Elephants never forget, Eggy, and here in Thailand they have so much symbolism that as soon as I heard about your quilt, I knew it had to have some elephants on it somewhere

peeriebear Thu 06-Oct-11 20:12:11

So glad you have it now. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying we'd love to see it- I know I haven't and I'd love to. Much love to you Edgar/Eggy xxxx

skiffler Thu 06-Oct-11 20:26:29

Pleased that you finally have it; sending my love, and hoping that the 'fishy' square your DD liked was mine!

EggyAllenPoe Thu 06-Oct-11 20:51:04

If it was a rainbow graded fishy then yes! she was delighted - they have done 'The Rainbow Fish' at school. I think its very pretty too smile

DH loves the 'leo' constellation - i asked if he wanted to do 'name a star' and he pointed out little fella already had a constellation.

EggyAllenPoe Thu 06-Oct-11 20:52:56

ah yes.. Elephants symbolise fertility/ abundance, as ell as 'overcoming obstruction'..elephants mourn dead family members for many years (i remember watching a documentary about African elephants which was very moving as the Mummy elephant mourned a miscarriage)

EggyAllenPoe Thu 06-Oct-11 20:55:14

There are some squares i think Lady of the manor probably made up out of a mix of fabrics..wonder about those. There is one that is a very clever mix of ream/ pink background cakes - yummy!

There is a lovely big pink cake smile

KnottyLocks Thu 06-Oct-11 21:02:41

Eggy, I know a couple of people did log cabin squares which are made up of different small pieces of fabric. I can't remember who though, sorry.

Blatherskite Thu 06-Oct-11 21:04:48

<claps excitedly> I made the Leo constellation grin

EggyAllenPoe Thu 06-Oct-11 21:08:56

oh lovely! I do like the flower and leaf made out of different patterned fabric.

peeriebear Thu 06-Oct-11 21:16:56

I did the little dog looking at the moon, I hope it's in there somewhere. I do hope the quilt is loved and enjoyed xx

EggyAllenPoe Thu 06-Oct-11 21:28:45

its lovely smile

it looks a bit like our dog, though she is in bad need of a haircut...

Blatherskite Thu 06-Oct-11 21:36:28

I also made the spotty hot air balloon on the sky fabric background. It looks just like the stained glass balloons that hang in my children's bedroom windows.

I've never embroidered anything before so I hope they stand the test of time!

youretheoneformefatty Fri 07-Oct-11 19:20:30

Glad you liked the smiley balloon, my Noah designed it. Only just read the message that you'd received the blanket as I've just come out of hospital after boy no. 3! Reading your post made me cry. you and yours are so often in my thoughts. XX
