Following on from the call for quilters and knitters here, this thread is for those who would like to in contribe a square so that we can make a quilt for EdgarAleNPie and her family.

Your square needs to be:

7" square
cotton or polycotton
pre-washed to avoid shrinkage
zigzagged or overlocked around the edges, if possible
Any colour
If appliqued, using cotton
Can be embroidered
Any design to be in the central 6" square
Can send plain squares too

Details regarding posting, etc, to follow.

Many thanks.

Aaah, it's all becoming clear.

KnottyLocks Mon 21-Mar-11 13:52:14

Blimey, thank goodness I can sew better than I can type blush

Must proof read.

I'm better at piecing than applique. Is that alright? Have just had idea about foundation piecing, which may or may not work, will have to have a play.

Ihatecobwebs Mon 21-Mar-11 14:00:22

Also, I can do extra squares if needed.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt Mon 21-Mar-11 14:03:26

Many thanks for starting this. I'll be contributing and I'm more than happy to contribute multiple squares if needed.

KnottyLocks Mon 21-Mar-11 14:08:27

Cobwebs, that would be lovely smile.

A few squares would really help boost our running total. Thanks to you too, MoveIt.

can i do a crochet granny square?
I can't knit.
(or quilt)

KnottyLocks Mon 21-Mar-11 14:24:45

(Nickel you don't need to be able to quilt. We're just gathering the squares and someone else will stitch them together and quilt them.

And yes, we're doing knitted/crochet blanket too. I'll find the link.)

KnottyLocks Mon 21-Mar-11 14:26:13

<slaps head>

Link for the yarn blanket is in my OP. grin

KnottyLocks Mon 21-Mar-11 14:27:59

So for example:

7" cotton square with a heart stitched on

or a star, moon, sun, bird, flower...

Nickel, if you can make your own wedding dress, an appliqued square will be a breeze. smile

And we need a few more!

GentleOtter Mon 21-Mar-11 14:33:40

Where do we send the completed knitted squares to, please?

KnottyLocks Mon 21-Mar-11 14:40:20

You done already then, GentleOtter. Good work, woman!

Details will be PM'd nearer the time.

BerryLellow Mon 21-Mar-11 14:43:27

I'd like to send a square too please

KnottyLocks Mon 21-Mar-11 14:44:18

Thank you, Berry smile

Does each square need to be appliqued? I have some lovely printed kids fabric so could send one square of that and one appliqued one for example.

Or I'm happy to do two appliqued ones if you want them all with something on (I can't embroider).

KnottyLocks Mon 21-Mar-11 14:48:53

No, 'plain' ones are great too. One of each would be perfect. Thanks.

CharCharGabor Mon 21-Mar-11 14:51:31

Oh yes I'd like to contribute a square too I am a bit rubbish at appliqué but can do piecing and embroidery.

hidinginthecupboard Mon 21-Mar-11 14:56:38

Ok put me down for a 'plain' and an appliqued one then.

KnottyLocks Mon 21-Mar-11 14:58:05

Hello CharChar smile. Thanks for that.

Excellent, Hiding. Thank you too.

TotorosOcarina Mon 21-Mar-11 15:17:36

nickelbabysnatcher Mon 21-Mar-11 15:19:31

i've pm'd Pixie and posted on the long thread.

It's a lovely idea.

GentleOtter Mon 21-Mar-11 15:28:14
