Yep it’s pathetic - maternity is a nice sounding word, ‘parenthood’ makes me think of serious types wearing sludgy coloured anoraks and unflattering dungarees.

Well if they're calling maternity clothes "parenthood" clothes, I'm definitely not going there. Shame, I could do with quite a few maternity clothes right now! I reject anybody who thinks words like "mother" and "maternity" are shameful or taboo.

Surely if you are pregnant but don't identify as a woman, you probably don't want women's maternity clothes? Do they actually have men's clothes that incorporate room for a bump in the range? Or is this just lip service?

What really irritates me is that I went into a branch of Primark not so long ago looking for maternity clothes. They didn't sell any in store.

M&S, New Look and Next all told me that they only sell maternity clothes online now, not in store. Even though I wanted maternity leggings that day and didn't want to order them online!

So it annoys me when companies like Primark purport to be oh-so inclusive and woke-wash their products by renaming the maternity range 'parenthood clothes' or whatever, but then when a pregnant woman actually needs to buy a fairly basic wardrobe staple from their store, they don't cater for her at all. Funnily enough, my husband did not have any issues buying clothes that day, because impending parenthood has not had the same effect on his body as it has mine.

Bought my leggings online from a non-high-street retailer in the end. Plan to buy my baby's clothes elsewhere as well.
