So... if I drink from a mug with a dinosaur on it at work, or have a dinosaur emoji on my status etc etc

Will that now be a subtle signal to my fellow GC sisters? I do hope so, I can't wait to see lots of dinosaurs being sported by women out and about - anyone complaining about a woman with a dinosaur is simply going to look batshit crazy Grin. (Although just to be clear I do talk about this a lot in rl but not so much at work but generally think that the more women who don't yet speak out about this can see how many others are GC the better and I suspect that the "GC Dinosaur" may just be our Bat Signal")

Wonderful idea. Im going to buy a dinosaur mug in green, white and violet, and if anyone comments I'll say I've had it for years.

Well, to be fair, I think velociraptors should be a hate symbol.

But it's a bit rough if the iguanadons get caught up in it!

Iguanodon, Iguanodon,
whatever made you fade,
you've traveled on, Iguanodon,
we wish you could have stayed.

Iguanodon, Iguanodon,
we've sought you everywhere,
both here and yon, Iguanodon,
but failed to find you there.

Iguanodon, Iguanodon,
you were a gentle kind,
but now you're gone, Iguanodon,
and left your bones behind.

Great question

I think Harry Potter is also a bit of a secret signal. I have a ravenclaw lanyard at work......

I was watching the Alice Roberts programme on Britain's most historic towns, and she was interviewing a lady by the statue ofa suffragette. The lady was wearing a very obvious Harry Potter necklace and some of the things she said were unmistakable to those in the know...

..... Think they went over Alice Roberts' head....

You seem very confused. Sue had a sex. We just don't know what it was.

Let me use an analogy.

There is a popular pseudo-philosophical question that goes like this "does a tree falling in the forest make a sound if no-one is there to hear it?"

Every time I hear someone say this, it annoys the fuck out of me because of the anthropocentric assumption that a forest without humans is empty. If there are zero human ears there, there are still thousands of other set of ears there, all capable of detecting sound. The utter nerve of it.

And that's you, that is. That dinosaur had a sex, and it would have shaped his or her entire life and behaviour, millions of years before humans existed. And you think that because some irrelevant species it never encountered don't know the dinosaur's sex, it didn't have one?

Bloody. Hell.

Please, have a day off the human arrogance. The world does not revolve around us and never did.

Is Tyrannosaurus Rex gender neutral, or should the females be called Tyrannosaura Regina? Smile

I think they'll all remain tyrannosaurus rexes. Afaik, no set convention about calling the females regina can develop, because at the time of typing, only one female tyrannosaur has ever been found in good enough condition to confirm her sex. I think we would need lots of known females to see that linguistic change happen.

Interestingly, the one, whose sex we do know, was ovulating at the time of her death.

Isn't T-rex the genus? We don't call female cats felis and felicia.
