Wish I knew which rights I was 'hoarding'.

He also spoke in support of “a degree of positive discrimination” to help increase the number of black men in the Parliamentary Labour Party (PLP). He said Labour has historically been “too slow” to understand the structural barriers preventing the selection and election of black men, and called on the party to do “considerably more”.
Oh dear.

How fucking dare he. Women who reasonably wish to maintain their boundaries in a world of male violence are dinosaurs???

Between him, Starmer, and Thornberry today, surely they must have peaked thousands.

Oh dear. The Labour party really are turning themselves into a spectacle over this.

The rights we are “hoarding” are the rights women have fought for to not be in the presence of males when undressing, imprisoned, being cared for, or otherwise very vulnerable, and the right to assemble and organise without the presence of males.

Extending those rights to males is a logical impossibility.

Is Lammy just not bright? I can’t think of any context in which “hoarding rights” is a sensible or useful construct.

What a pathetic little man. I'm past being disappointed by Labour, they clearly enjoy their obscurity.

Says a man who wants to not only protect but increase the opportunities for men.

How tedious and predictable

I wonder whether he was supportive of Rachel Dolezal.

Which rights? The rights to sleep in a hostel bed unafraid that the man in the next bed might not attack you? The right of a female prisoner not to have to share a shower with a male sex offender? The right of a rape victim to ask to be examined by s female doctor? Which rights are we hoarding?

What a strange thing to say “rights hoarding dinosaurs”

You can’t hoard rights. And there are no rights women have that trans do no have. And dinosaurs are extinct, is he saying women are extinct?

It’s the adult equivalent of calling someone a poopy-face. Nonsense insult that you can’t react to.

Exactly this - 'rights' to privacy from the opposite sex, which are still, more or less, a social norm across much of the world. Why is Labour so invested in upending this (rhetorical question)?

Lammy is one of the original architects of this current mess. He didn't consider the impact of women 16 years ago and clearly he has no interest in doing so now. Despite everything he claimed wouldn't happen coming to pass and then some. He was wrong about everything back then and is now doubling down.

What rights do trans people want that we're "hoarding"? Oh, just the right to spaces without men. We should be happy to just give that away.....
The blokes, like this idiot, are bad enough, but what I can't fathom is the women who are trying to chuck their fellow females under the bus....

This is a slightly different hymnsheet to usual, and possibly more honest.

Normally it's "rights are not a pie" and an insistence that no rights are being taken away.

RARRRRRRR! 🦖🦕🦖🦕🦖🦕🦖

Seriously though, that’s an appalling thing to say. It’s not even grimly humorous any more. My only hope is that this whole debacle wakes the wider public up to what has been going on.

That is really disappointing. I always liked DL. Now he has turned out to be as misogynistic as the others.

How would he feel about people self-identifying to take advantage of this initiative?

We have males self-identifying onto all-women shortlists, and that's OK.

Now what's going to happen when females self-identify for a Lammy Scholarship?

I think he is literally calling women as a meaningful term outdated and extinct. Not only should we have no sex based rights we should cease to exist. The word dinosaur is pretty self explanatory. Unelectable shower of shit.

I suspect he would take a very dim view of a white man identifying as a black man to take advantage of the initiative.

It would - rightly - be seen as highly offensive.

David Lammy was the minister driving the GRA legislation back in 2004. He was wrong then and is still wrong now, I expect he's so enmeshed with it he couldn't possibly admit he was wrong even if the consequences were staring him in the face.

He is just jumping on the bandwagon because he has done some really good programmes /phone ins about maternity care outcomes. He must have an inkling about women and health care for example.
