“We’re very aware that sex, of course, is not binary. It’s a continuum. The sectors overlap. And so the solutions are not essentially going to be binary.”

Unless you're a man. Men's sport strangely seems to be very binary.

How does one go about challenging this? The position that sex is not binary is logically and scientifically indefensible! Where are they getting this stuff?!

Report

They can't ignore it forever.

Everyone knows that males in female sport is unfair.

Yes, that's what happens once the adherents of an ideology divide humanity into "men" and "non-men", or "men's" and "gender neutral" when it's bogs and changing rooms.

It's a mystery how it always seems to be the men who come out on top.

Mightn't be the worst thing. The momentum's more our way ATM I think.

That’s a fair point tea

There’s certainly scope for more transwomen to hit the headlines in sport over the next few months which will result in more Hubbard-esque headlines and painful questioning from the media. Hubbard did women a great favour by showing the whole world the farce that allows males in women’s sports.

So, more of what the Dr said towards the end of the Olympics. I wonder if there is a new study due out soon?

I was under the impression that saying sex is binary means that in humans it requires two gametes for sexual reproduction - the large gamete (egg) from the woman and the small gamete (sperm) from the man.

Nothing to do with how many genders there are.

What is this 'of course, sex is not binary' shit? What evidence and research shows this? Seriously, to any of the misogynistic monitors watching (waves), please link this peer reviewed, paradigm changing evidence ...

Like it or not, there are scientists who will support the 'sex is a spectrum and not a binary' line.

I might not support it but it would be unwise not to expect that IOC has a phalanx of scientists ready to argue this.

When you are in a hole keep digging. I think the IOC are showcasing a new Olympic game. Digging holes and seeing how to get out of them.

Please let this be the case.

On a related note, does anyone know when the RFU are going to release their final policy that went for consultation earlier this year?

Long grass growing well this year.

I'm assuming there is a hell of a lot of backscratching and furniture moving going on behind the scenes. I doubt I will love the outcome but with any luck it will be better than this.

so
if my bones were discovered in a grave a few hundred years hence the anthropologist would id me as female
If I were a transwomen how would I be identified than?
Male skeletons have totally different proportions than female - especially when it comes to our pelvis & how the femurs are set into it which affects the way you run & move & no amount of hormone or control of other hormone is going to alter that

Both the RFU and the British Cycling transgender consultations are rather late in being published. I have a hunch they were probably waiting for the IOC to release theirs first.

That's a very reasonable hunch. The plot thickens....

I think you must mean this illustration, from the new advanced biology curriculum, which has superseded the transphobic nonsense in those obsolete text books we bigoted old farts used, back in the olden days.

I include the second image to illustrate the depths of delusion some of us old fogies are still floundering in, clinging pathetically to outdated concepts fuzzily recalled from school biology lessons. Apparently we are all too old and stupid to grasp the new queer biological science.

In fact, a kindly young person informed me on twitter that the opinion of ugly old hags like myself are now completely irrelevant, and it is a comfort that we will all be dead soon, and the world will be a better place without us.

so according the article, the new advice will ‘prioritise inclusion’ and ‘avoidance of harm’

which is nonsense - because if you ‘prioritise inclusion’ then you are immediately harming female athletes (especially at Olympic level)

Report
PermanentTemporary · 20/09/2021 23:54

Prioritise inclusion over what? Safety and fairness?

Does nobody get asked to complete their sentences any more?

Interesting thread, from sports to dead bones to reproduction, do dead bones have feeling or care what they'll be identified as in a few hundred years? My guess would be no, what if the body was cremated? What has procreation got to do with sports? Sexual intercourse has what to do with sports? Trans people shouldn't play in the Olympics in their respective gender because procreation? Hmm

Waitwhat23 · 21/09/2021 01:03

As always Anaily, you have manage to somehow read through many pages of discussion and come to conclusions which bear no resemblance to 1. what has actually been said and 2. reality.

If you'd actually engage in good faith on this subject, we might be able to discuss things but your deliberate disingenuousness is tiresome.

It's literally in the thread, all my points are taken from this thread. There is a picture of a sperm and egg, even a spegg, wth is a spegg?! What has that got to do with sports?

Report
anaily · 21/09/2021 01:14

Talking about reproduction and speggs is good faith? Asking what has reproduction and spegg got to do with sports is bad faith? I'm just go Google spegg.
