About 5.20? I think it is someone called Alison who is commenting on the olympics. Talked about horse eventing and then asked about weightlifting. Straight away said IOC need to do some research about "men who want to enter as women" , said it had been just talk of human rights without looking at impact on female sport, that Rugby did actual scientific study and found trans women to be 30%still stronger... that even the current weighlifter is 13 years older than women would be able to compete.

Just brilliant! Radio 4 person did wafdly noncommital move onto next thing but I was so impressed!

I just heard this too - woohoo
And I agree the presenter was very cautious at the end of the report.

I don't suppose the reporter will be allowed to report on this again, though.
I think she is a sports reporter for the Times.

And I don't know whoshe was but she certainly deserves our support as publically saying these things. (I was listening in the car!)

Oh wow as a sports reporter is well placed to talk about this. I wonder if she already has?

The woman talking about this was introduced as Alyson Rudd, who writes for the Sunday Times.

She said the IOC were going to "rethink how they allow men who want to be women to enter the games".

And presenter Carolyn Quinn mentioned 'openly trans' which rightly acknowledges the likes of the Press sisters masquerading as women in the past.

Ah fantastic! Can we send her our support!?

Barking mad that this is stand out impressive, of course.

Obviously this happened on a day when it wasn't Evan Davis presenting, today is Carolyn Quinn, and if you listened carefully she seemed to be avoiding calling Hubbard a "woman" or "she". The sports reporter was Alyson Rudd from The Times who commented about how the IOC rules were done without much regard to actual science.

Oh yes to "actual science!"

This shouldn't be so drawdropping should it!? But was driving back from a kids drop off and was so excited.

I almost cheered! This has left me with a big smile on my face. So refreshing to hear someone saying it as it is. She also mentioned the negative impact on women's sport. Hurray!

Men are already angry about this on twitter:

Complaining that she referred to 'transwomen' as 'men who want to be women'. Isn't that the definition of a 'transwoman'? What do they think a 'transwoman' is? Do they believe in the 'born in the wrong body' nonsense?

Brilliant! It sounded like it wasn't what the presenter wanted to hear but it needed saying. And I think she did a good job of making it clear that the rules are at fault, not Hubbard.

Going to be interesting to see how the papers cover this tomorrow. The Daily Mail on line already have a piece detailing Hubbard's exploits I sport as a teenage boy (sorry I do not have the IT skills to share).

More crap on BBC 1 news right now from Dan Roan, with people 'born into a gender category...'

I also heard an amazing interview with Sean someone who is a sports journalist for the Guardian no less!! Made the following points very calmly and matter of fact - I was cheering at each one!!!

Male puberty gives big advantage regardless of testosterone
Repeatedly 'no surgery' several times
Dropped transgender early on in favour of 'people born as male'
Contextualised testosterone limits immediately against 'normal' for women
Dina Asher Smith would lose to a 15 yr old boy
It's fairness v inclusive - can't have both
Not inclusive to the women who miss out on selection as LH is there instead
