For anyone who missed it, I think you can get it on catch up on their website. I missed the beginning of it, but she was brilliant. Tom Dunne (?)( I think that was the presenter) was a really bad interviewer...just saying hmm, ok all the time without actually considering the issues.

Also, when one texter mentioned the scientific difference between sex and gender, he just said 'oh I wouldn't know about the science.'. How mealy mouthed is that? What a cop out.

Also kept saying it's a controversial issue...obviously terrified to say the 'wrong' thing. He said something like, if a trans person genuinely believes they are a woman we should believe them. And Helen asked him what is a woman . He just kind of uhmed and ahhed. So no real answer there.

What was heartening is how many texters were supportive, I also texted in support because we need to be heard about this.

Thank you Helen, you were wonderful, I will be buying your book this week.

I like Tom Dunne usually, but it is a pity the regular presenter Sean Moncrieff wasn't there to interview Helen Joyce - he is intelligent and well-researched on a lot of issues, and I think would be less afraid to expose the incoherencies in gender ideology.

For UK mumsneters Newstalk is a well known respectable Irish radio station. That show is pretty light, would not be heavy hitting/political.

Haha, no sorry it's News Talk, a popular talk radio station. Which is great because it will get lots of sunlight!

For some reason it doesn't show up on the podcasts section, even though the other segments on todays show are there, but it should be added to Listen Back later on - www.newstalk.com/listen-back it was on the Moncrieff show I believe.

He can afford to be woeful. Won't impact on HIM.🙄 Honestly, if it wasn't for Glinner, I'd be tempted to think all Irish men are just shite on this issue.

Even Tom Whatshisname was just mumbling nonchalantly when Helen was making excellent points. At one stage he said something indignantly about 'but if they believe they are women then we have to believe them'...FFS!

Couldn't possibly disagree with a man's assertion about himself, no ladies, move over - a man is telling you what to think!

The only upside is that they are actually giving airtime to this.

It's like Irelands LBC. I don't often listen for the same reason I give the Moral Maze and Any Questions a body swerve. I've 'aged out' I think! Good she is getting exposure though.

It was a young Irish man who alerted me to this problem Lastsummer. About 3 years ago...but he also said he is literally scared of most of his 20s friends. Catholic guilt , Part 2 - ie it is our duty to support anything the church disapproves of. In this way we atone for something or other. Sigh.

Sean Moncrieff gave a ridiculous interview to Rachel McKinnon/Veronica Ivy about 18 months ago. Completely fawning and any texter who disagreed was a transphobe. I've never been able to listen to him since.

I do think men like Sean Moncrieff and Tom Dunne just have no skin in the game, and don't need to think deeper about this.

They are the the typical 'beeee kind' men who think that all men should be centred no matter what, and women who disagree are just hateful wenches. Unfortunately, no surprises there.

I do think Helen held her own really well.
