Some really wanky things going Glinners way on twitter again. Just giving a heads up in case anyone has the energy to present another side of the argument.

I thought he was banned from Twitter?

Gingerkittykat Tue 20-Jul-21 16:48:50

Have you got a link?

I thought he was banned from Twitter?

He has been.

Links and screenshots would be helpful, doubly so if anything could be deemed libellous.

I don't know if there's any point arguing the toss with TRAs though. They believe, or pretend to believe, what they want to believe and aren't dissuaded by pesky things like facts and evidence.

Glinner is in Glasgow, seems the be kind brigade are commenting on his looks.

Ironic, I know. Best ignore.

I've noticed they do that a lot to people. They love a bit of ageism too.

Yep. Glinner also has actual real life friends, so that's got to sting too

There might be other stuff, mostly about his divorce, it's all pretty childish from what I've seen.

They are the very last people who should comment on other people's appearance.

They are the very last people who should comment on other people's appearance.

Indeed. That aside, Glinner is a comic genius who has created (or co-created) four completely brilliant series: Father Ted, Black Books, The IT Crowd and Big Train. What have they done, apart from dye their hair blue and post shit on Twitter?

🤔They are good at terrorising women. Not much else. But then if they had even half the talent Glinner has in his pinkie, they wouldn't be so desperate to be considered 'special'.

ScreamingMeMe Tue 20-Jul-21 18:29:51

They are the very last people who should comment on other people's appearance.

And they'd be the first to screech about abuse and bigotry if anyone commented on theirs.

Anyway, it looks like the meet was enjoyed by all, and the TRAs are just butthurt about it.

LastSummerHere Tue 20-Jul-21 18:35:07

I saw some fool squeaking on Twitter that he was happy the turnout wasn't as good as some TRA rally...then he posted a bizarre pic of the saddest looking bunch of miserable misfits you could ever imagine in your worst nightmare. A sea of purple hair and empty eyes. The complete reverse of the passionate, sharp, engaged women we saw today.

NiceGerbil Tue 20-Jul-21 18:46:33

Not much there that I can see.

Given glinner doesn't trade on his looks but on his comedy genius I'm not even sure of their point.

He looks like a perfectly standard middle aged bloke. Which isn't an insult - if you're reading glinner hopefully the genius bit will outweigh that!

I deemed my kids old enough to watch father Ted about a year ago. We watched the whole lot. Children loved it. Absolutely loves it. And I've seen them all a million times but it never gets old even though I know exactly what's coming!

You can spot the feminist leanings in the lovely girls competition...

'Doesn't Mary have a lovely bottom?

Careful there, Ted.
That might offend the girls.

Right, Liam.

Of course,
they all have lovely bottoms.'

And the proud look exchanged at being so right on 🤣🤣🤣

NiceGerbil Tue 20-Jul-21 18:47:25

The oh look a bloke who looks normal haha stuff is dull.

What are your favourite episodes/ quotes etc?

NiceGerbil Tue 20-Jul-21 18:50:09

I mean so many but stand outs are

The sheep one
The one where it's speed with the milkfloat
The father Ted I hear you're a racist now one

The down with this sort of thing signs
When the milkman is there and Mrs Doyle says he wants to put his enormous tool in my box

God it's just fab

risefromyourgrave Tue 20-Jul-21 18:53:32

The quote used most in our house is ‘I love my brick’.

And Motherland (I think). And the TRAs should know that most straight women find the brain the sexiest bit of a man ...

TheMarzipanDildo Tue 20-Jul-21 18:56:53

Oh god “I love my brick” 😂

“Small, far away” gets used often in our house, as does “have you tried turning it off and on again?”, of course.

TheMarzipanDildo Tue 20-Jul-21 18:57:29

Yeah think he co wrote the first series of Motherland.

Couldn't agree more.

I love the scene where Dougal has his head in the TV box and Jack wakes up, spots him and is flabbergasted... 'how did that gobshite get on the television'??😂😂🤣🤣

So, so true. A strong brain, in every sense, is the sexiest part of a man, hands down.

Oh god the milk float one 🤣 I'm laughing out loud while trying to feed my baby yoghurt just thinking about that!
