How can the man be so tinned eared. After the anger with his Pink News piece to camera comes this. He still has not met with Lesbian Labour or LabourDeclaration.

Terrified of his own shadow. Can't talk about Covid must rally round the flag. Can't talk about Brexit , mustn't upset the Dead Wall. Can't talk about class that might sound a bit Corbynista. Now what can I say ...hmmm

As per comments - it’s just a bunch of white middle aged men isnt it. Hmm.

Also according to the comments, apparently there’s transphobia in the Labour Party. Seems like Keir is not getting it right by anyone. Silly man. (And I say that as someone who has voted Labour in the past)

Not a woman in sight, unless I'm mistaken. A drag queen and some (gay? Bi?) men.

Well, it's on brand, I suppose.

I wouldn't vote for Starmer now if he turned up with that rose stuck in his arse like James Nesbitt in Cold Feet. Wanker.

Pathetic. He should step aside.

Absolutely - he is pleasing no-one. There's also comments about him focusing on this as a distraction when people are either so frightened about unlocking, or annoyed that we are not unlocking fast enough and where is he in that? Neither one side or the other.

He does seem to wrong foot himself quite a lot. I have a feeling Sir K thinks the UK is only a stones throw from becoming the US, unfortunately for him, the culture wars in the US are not won. Unless he knows something we don't. Love the thread

As we're talking about the Labour Party, I came across this powerful letter of resignation earlier. It resonated with me:

There are men there as well, and the drag Queen may well not be trans.

It's still a bunch of blokes though.

This is so shoddy. Did no one on his team not look at the optics of a bunch of white men meeting like this? I voted for Keir and honestly thought he was smarter than this.

I wouldn’t dream of letting my boss have a photo op like this...because I wouldn’t let him have a meeting like this. He and I would insist on a broader diversity of people in the meeting.

The majority of its members are now hysterical, anti-patriotic conspiracy theorists drunk on a toxic brew of quasi-totalitarianism, divisive and hateful identity politics, and contempt for the ordinary working-class people that the Labour Party historically existed to represent. Most (though not all) trade unions have become totally disconnected from the views and interests of their members and the electorate: they will not save us.
Worth a c&p from the letter and finishing on this
There are only four types of people left in the Labour Party: the morally vicious, the well-meaning but mistaken, the stupid, and the cowardly. For far too long I have been part of the latter category.

I read the letter of resignation linked above and it resonated with me too. At the moment it feels as if the Government can do whatever it wishes as badly as it can because there is no viable united political opposition. The Labour Party is a mess.

Seeing as how Jess Phillips is getting a little more confident in expressing those verboten views on social media at the moment he wants to watch that she isnt positioning herself as the first female leader when the inevitable leadership challenge comes

Regardless of her motives for speaking up she'd go a long way to winning back support from real voters

That letter of resignation is rather long, but there are some nice paragraphs in there (some quoted by PP). I'd like to highlight this one:

Lies are now the stock-in-trade of the Labour Party, and nowhere are lies more prominent than in our vile pandering to the extremist gender radicals. No amount of ideological cajolery or coercion will make me assent to self-evidently absurd propositions such as ‘women have penises’ or ‘trans women are women’. Denying biological reality to placate the fantasies of the trans-lobby is modern day Lysenkoism and science-denial, and I will not be party to policies such as self-ID and undermining the sex-based rights of women.

Can LGBTQ+ still be called a community? I'm not a member myself so not in the know. If I were, apart from being associated with the hateful aggressive attitudes of TWAs, it would upset me no end to be represented by Widow Twankey from Aladdin.....

Report
FloralBunting · 20/07/2021 11:11

Not really. It's a bit like a religious/political club where you state your affiliation and if you don't keep things on brand you're out. Which tbh, is fine in a private club setting with a specific focus. But the LGBTQ+ people have such an ill defined focus, an eagerness to claim and speak for people who make it clear they do not share the same views, and of course the 'T first', and often only perspective.
I feel very much part of an LGB community, and I still use that. But I actively avoid anything that has Q*r on it.

Dont agree with some of the letter quoted. Supported the idea of a second referendum. Agree with direct action when appropriate (which the Labour Party often DOESNT support despite the writers contention), thought that most of Corbyns programme was good and the labour vote in 2017 held up pretty well, though dont support anti-semitism in any form. Think that the Labour Party in its current form however, is crap on gender ideology and pretty much crap on the environment. Also agree, that it seems to have lost touch with many of its members and wonder how much that is down to people being angry with Labour councillors for implementing Tory cuts. Also Keir Starmer seems to be blown around by wherever the wind goes which doesnt lead to confidence in his leadership. I expect lots of people will disagree with me but thats OK - a bit of robust discussion is always good.
