Feminism in Argentina

A brief - and uninformed - look at feminism in Argentina. Any additions/corrections would be welcomed.

There's some strong grassroots feminism in Argentina, protesting a macho culture, patriarchy and VAWG.

Abortion was finally legalised in 2019.

'While Argentina's powerful Catholic Church, and its growing evangelical community, put up strong opposition against this bill, it was Argentina's mighty "green wave" women's movement that has been at the forefront of this change.

A grassroots feminist movement that has grown in influence in the past few years, its campaigning prevailed, overturning a law that had been in place since 1921. '

Here are a few rad-fem leaning feminist organisations:

Thanks ArabellaScott,

I stayed up until the early hours listening to the speaches in the parliamnet house, and was in tears to see 1000s and 1000s of women in green celebrating that the law had been passed.

Unfortunately, it was not uncommon to see/hear women talking about 'Legal abortion for pregnant people'.

I believe this was my breaking point - since then I became much more vocal about all this crap.

I really enjoy the Women's Human Rights Campaign weekly webinars on Saturday afternoons. I know they had someone from Argentina recently but I can't find her presentation so here's one from Bolivia.

They nearly all get posted on YouTube so take a look and if you have a free Saturday afternoon sign up for a webinar.

I came here to mention those. The one you've linked is genuinely shocking as the activity and sex organ are clearly visible so take this as a NSFW alert for anyone who hasn't seen it.
