I've just had an email about the new inclusivity and diversify and blah plan. Is it different?

I haven't had a proper look through, but has Stonewall branding on bits of it

I just came to see if anyone else had received the email.

This is from one of the pages it links to: www.girlguiding.org.uk/what-we-do/our-stories-and-news/news/a-joint-statement-on-our-strategic-plan-for-diversity-and-inclusion/

Are you ethically allowed to use the words 'inclusion' and 'inclusive' quite that often and offer it out for human consumption? It's a bit nauseating.

Just got this email and came straight here.

What is it about?

Yes same here - I immediately assumed it was about allowing boys in.

Yep, me too. Can’t see anything that suggests they’ve had a change of heart.

Why is that a "pisstake"?
Girls being excluded because of race, religion, disabilities ,economic reasons etc !

Have we travelled back to the seventies?

"Whoever they are" so does that include boys then?

Such a shame. Guides was the only place my abuser couldn't come when I was younger. Now girls don't even have that. :(

Imasoulman there’s a very long and sexist back story here you may want to look into on FWR threads.

This is a load of fluff that has come out of a consultation process (clearly while leaders were busting a gut to keep Guides going over lockdown, the powers that be were happily playing social justice warrior bingo).

As far as I can tell, their trans inclusion policy has not changed, and still plays fast and loose with the law. It is a single sex organisation that lets in certain members of the opposite sex if they make a certain assertion that is not recognised in law vis a vis minors, but excludes all other members of the opposite sex who do not make that assertion, and is therefore excluding some members of a sex class contrary to the EQA.

Well I was never asked what my thoughts were. Who have they been asking it hasn't come up in Dd guide unit either. They need to get their heads out of the sand and stop spending money on policies that don't need changing and look at the new problem certainly in my area which is where to have meetings as we are being phased out of churches and schools due to covid.

@Imasoulman sorry my post was a bit confusing if you didn't know the back story of this but I'm wary and I made the op intentionally vague....

Obviously I would find girls being excluded from girl guiding on the basis of race or ethnicity or disability abhorrent and I wouldn't send my dds there.

mogloveseggs it was the Research Pool consultation, now called the Insight and Innovation Pool. Would have come round in an email or in one of the newsletters in 2019. You could volunteer to be a consultee. They spoke to about 500 out of 1200 volunteers.

Thank you, yes I see your point.

I understand the concerns this raises, another safe space being threatened

It seems their reading of the equality act is they can have a “girl” only space. They then define a girl by gender not sex. And go on about not excluding people covered by the gender reassignment bit of the equality act.

Not how I read the act.

I’ve got two DDs, forgive my ignorance but does this mean anyone can ‘identify’ as a female and attend girl guide / brownie camps, sleep in same tents as girls, lead a female unit but be biological male? How is safeguarding upheld?!?
My eldest DD is also active in competitive sport and already I’m SO so angry at what is happening in female sport being eroded by male rights over females when will it end Confused

I’ve already contributed to a survey on women’s sports, is there any way to respond to this to argue to protect girls rights to feel safe in a female club??
