Awful, Helen Joyce shared this earlier. No idea what can be done. Maybe UK MP could raise it in the HOC?

Considering they went full throttle into multistory prostitution sex malls, it doesn't really surprise me.

Yeah their liberalism looks an awful lot like misogyny to me:

Alice and Hecates - yes - utterly appalling.

As usual the BBC doesn’t give a shit about women:

Misogyny writ large.

This is horrific.

In a socially conservative country like Germany too.

I'm actually starting to fear that western civilisation is imploding.

If that is the case then please can it hurry up.

I'm not sure how much more of this I can take.

I get the sense that Germans either like women to be woke or conservative Hausfrauen. I used to love going there when I was younger but as a mother I find it very socially conservative, albeit sometimes with a woke facade.

And that translates as very patriarchal, whichever way you turn it.

I really thought they were more sensible. Truly.

Someone in FWR, it's quite a while ago, said about Ireland that some of the wokeness there comes from the want to show how not-Catholic they are now. I think something similar is at play in Germany, except it's to show how not-Nazi we are.
I'm out of Germany for so long I can't even vote anymore, I have no idea who would tackle this, anybody voicing opposition would probably be accused to be a Nazi or religious or both.

That's a really positive development. Good on Germany for looking at pro-active ways to help gender diverse people.

They have led the way for gender diverse people over many years and per Scientific America had the global first transgender clinic before the Nazis shut it down in the 1930s, burned their books and records, and hunted down those who were gender diverse for their camps.

Perversely, many on the GC side seem to wish to do similar today under the guise of "Protecting society".... we learn very little from history. Hopefully few wish to take it as extreme.

Are you trying to imply that feminists want to put trans people in camps like the Nazis, Mishy? Do forgive me if I've got that wrong.

Only in some respects. Women are encouraged to be housewives to serve men However, prostitution is (or was - has this changed?) legal to serve men.

I have no doubt some do - but they will probably be "conversion camps". No doubt the public debate to ensue on conversion therapy will provide some interesting insights!

What a shame this thread is about to be derailed. We're never far from mention of Nazis when Germany is mentioned, whatever the context Hmm

Yes, Germany is a complex but generally patriarchal culture. I think the attitudes to prostitution are a signal of that rather than a particularly liberal outlook.

Anyway I digress. I'm in Germany and have just looked into my MP's views on this proposed reform. They are very much against self ID, but in favour of a simplified process which still ensures ongoing professional care for people who suffer gender dysphoria as well as ensuring the veracity of their intentions.

Nevertheless, I've sent an email outlining my concerns regarding the impact on the rights of women and girls if this reform is passed. This aspect of the likely impact of the proposed reform seems to be dismissed here as much as elsewhere, so I think it needs saying loud and clear.

It is too late for Germany. The only larger party questioning the whole gender thing is the AfD. And since they are a cesspit of right-wing nutjobs, no one will dare agree with them.

So the Netherlands has also just sent the bill to be reviewed. The only objections so far: if people who change their sex marker understand what they are doing. The reason given in the law proposal: because too many people can't get a medical diagnosis because the experts disagree on giving them one.

I remember some talk about gulags a while back. Funnily enough it wasn't feminist women.

Why are TW always leading? Where are the TM?

Because a certain half of humanity is bottom of the pile - irrespective of gender identity ( and lack thereof) and sexuality.

Can’t think how we can work out which half...
