I struggled to even come up with a title for this thread as I am so enraged I know I will get deleted and even banned if I say what I really think.

I hear you. What a travesty.

Hopefully it's ok to say that I find it so irritating and concerning (as a lesbian who doesn't want to be discriminated against on that basis) that ercc, like so many other women's sector employers, is not signed up to the Disability Confident employers' scheme.

Incredible that they carve out "BME" women with trans women.

It is SO racist! It is just so fucking racist. And dehumanising.

BME women are still WOMEN you fucking muppets. They don't need to be carved out into a separate group with people who are not biological women.

First comment on that thread is enthusiastic congratulations and an endorsement of the comment about 'improving the lives of women' from a beardy 'they/them/he/him.' Says it all really.

Disgusting. It's not ok.

It’s so inappropriate and doesn’t centre the needs of service users.

Inclusion for all women including trans women and BME women...... seriously?

BME women are women, we don't need a separate fucking category Angry

FFS, what's with all these social media posters making unnecessary conflict? They could just say "all women" and leave it at that (even if in their minds that includes men).

Meanwhile, when you emphasise certain groups, you make it clear that you don't really think they're automatically included in the default label. And while I can understand that men often get left out of the definition, how on earth are BME women usually excluded?

Not ok. At all.

I'm not a lawyer, but if you were a female who applied for the role and didn't get it, then found out it was given to a male even though the EA2010 exemption was called out in the advert - would you have a legal case of any kind?

Adding insult to injury Angry

This is absolutely disgusting. By employing this person, the message this service is putting out is that female victims of rape are only allowed help if they also accept that males who put a dress on are also women: their help is conditional on an acceptance of a postmodern ideological belief in gender theory. Imagine having to put up with that kind of gaslighting when you may have already been through similar abuse at the hands of the man you are fleeing from, to have to stare at that male face when recounting the abuse you have suffered and submit to their demand for 'inclusion' over your own recovery from rape. Even a rape crisis centre can't prioritise the needs of women and puts male demands first.

Why have BME women been placed last????

(Was going to direct link to the relevant bit at 2:29, but that totally destroys Posie's narrative pacing. You can play it from the start).

Sorry, nothing to say about the OP, so thought a good Posie rant to lift the mood. Might be enough new people around who haven't seen it yet.

Interesting point @BuffysBigSister & I'm not a lawyer so have no idea, but realistically anyone who did would scupper their chances of future employment so probably couldn't afford to risk it. ☹️

Or possibly a male who was intending to apply but saw the exemption and didn't because you respected their rights under law. But now have discovered they're not applying the exemption they claimed to be.

Yep. Horrendous.

And using the ‘all women’ trope.

Women does just fine.

Eyes at least BME was mentioned. Same sex attracted women and disabled women don't even get a look in if we're going on protected characteristics.

Edinburgh Rape Crisis: Women, submit to misogynistic gender ideology, accept that you are just a pair of tits and lipstick or else we won't help you recover from rape.
