The nterim CEO of the Fawcett Society has now blocked Fair Play for Women, despite the fact they've never interacted with her. You really couldn't make this stuff up. They are terrified of Maya and the light she's holding up to their cowardice.

Some discussion in this thread of Felicia W and who she is blocking:

Ah yes they were captured some time ago. Such a long time in fact I can't remember specifically what they said but it was basically TWAW etc...

The Fawcett Society are a complete waste of space. Pathetic.

What on earth do the Fawcett Society think they are for?

They have become completely irrelevant.

There was a thread a while ago about how its seems to be harder and harder for women's groups to find CE who are committed to women's only services. After that appointment of someone to lead Women's Aid and then resigned.

And looks like Fawcett aren't doing any better with an interim CE.

Rape Crisis (england) announced a new CE this week and in their announcement about this I dont think the word woman is mentioned once. Sad rapecrisis.org.uk/news/rcew-welcomes-new-ceo/

These people all seem to be general-purpose charity management bods on a carousel. If they actually stood up for women in a women's org it might impact their next placement, I guess.

Same sort of thing as civil liberties orgs not wanting to do civil liberties any more...

Never been clear to me why management are a totally separate caste these days and you can't promote people...

Just embarrassing. I used to think Fawcett did good work but they've totally lost the plot.

I wonder if the Charities Commission ought to look into this 'cartel' of CE's because it would be top of my list of dubious activities. I think it is laziness on the part of organisations. Usually if a CE is on the merry-go-round they have a knowledge advantage - how to win at interviews in the NfP sector and their last post credentials (which can be spun).

This is it, and yes, good point.

I saw someone on twitter make a brilliant point about paid feminists refusing to listen to unpaid, grass roots feminists.

Of course I'm not even clear if Willow is a feminist. I had a little look at her on linked in (not twitter as she's locked down her account - how ridiculously pathetic for someone in such a senior position). She seems to put great store by regarding herself as a 'good person'.

These professional charity workers are often actively harmful to the organisations they join it seems.

I would guess there are trustees whose job it is to keep the charity on the straight and narrow. I wonder where they are?

astonishingly one of the trustees is a man - 'He brings financial and accounting experience to the Fawcett Society Board, as well as a deep understanding of local government', 'cos there are definitely no women who can do that.

I remember my mum saying that when they started including men in the WI trustees the annual subs immediately went up to the point that some of the members in her institute could no longer afford to join. The men really didn't understand that some women have almost no money to spend on themselves.

This?

Lucy Hunter Blackburn has a very astute comment in re: Fawcett and Felicia W's block of Maya F:

Has the policy and political establishment ever worked quite so hard as they currently collectively are to play the emperor’s new clothes game, and freeze out anyone attempting the boy in the crowd role? It’s the most amazing closing of ranks of the paid against the unpaid.

one can't help but feel that Millicent Fawcett would be turning in her grave Blocking grassroots feminist campaigners on twitter because they hold a different views to your own and would like to talk to you about that. How fragile can a person be for heaven's sake?

How is any of this continuing Fawcett's work?

I think that they delude themselves it will be an equal partnership.

They don't realise it will be the same old sex castes (Sheila Jeffreys) and classes of oppression in a different set of clothes and settings.

The interim ceo has also blocked filia charity account. I'm actually surprised at that because their campaigning pre-dates the current to-do, and their campaigning is much broader than self id etc - they cover all kinds of things that affect women, especially vulnerable women.

They are also looking for people to donate their way.

I'm not against ppl blocking whoever they need to on twits, and the rationale for blocking accounts with large numbers of gender critical followers will be that if she is retweeted by them she could get v large numbers of notifications some of which won't be polite. But blocking entire feminist campaigns that you have never interacted with & you have no reason to think will cause pile ons indicates fingers in ears. She knows her opinion and doesn't want to hear anything else.
